Andrzej Sajkowski (born 21 May 1952) is a former long-distance runner from Poland, who represented his native country at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow, USSR. He competed in the Olympic marathon but did not finish the race. He was born in Warsaw, Mazowieckie. He set his personal best (2:13:38) in the classic distance in 1980.

Frank Charles Shorter is an American former long-distance runner who won the gold medal in the marathon at the 1972 Summer Olympics and the silver medal at the 1976 Summer Olympics. His Olympic success, along with the achievements of other American runners, is credited with igniting the running boom in the United States during the 1970s.
William Henry Rodgers is an American runner, Olympian, and former record holder in the marathon. Rodgers is best known for his four victories in both the Boston Marathon, including three straight from 1978 to 1980, and 4 straight wins in the New York City Marathon, between 1976 and 1979.
Toshihiko Seko is a Japanese former long-distance runner. He was a world-class marathon competitor in the 1980s. He represented his native country at the 1984 and the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea.
Karel Lismont is a former Belgian long-distance runner. He competed at the 1972, 1976, 1980 and 1984 Olympics in the marathon and 10,000 m events. He won two marathon medals: a silver in 1972 and a bronze in 1976, finishing ninth and twenty-fourth in 1980 and 1984, respectively; he was less successful in the 10,000 m, finishing eleventh in 1976 and failing to reach the final in 1972. His personal best for the marathon was 2:11:12.6 at the 1976 Olympic Games.
Suleiman Nyambui is a former track athlete from Tanzania who specialized in various long-distance disciplines. Nyambui won the bronze medal at the 1978 All-Africa Games, the silver medal in 5000 metres at the 1980 Summer Olympics, and finished first at three consecutive marathons between 1987 and 1988. He holds multiple indoor national records of Tanzania in athletics.
Rodney Phillip Dixon is a former New Zealand middle- to long-distance runner. He won the bronze medal in the 1500 metres at the 1972 Olympics in Munich, and in 1983 won the New York City Marathon.
Craig Steven Virgin is an American distance runner. He was born in Belleville, Illinois, and grew up near Lebanon, Illinois. While in high school, Virgin won 5 state championships as well as setting the national outdoor high school 2-mile record of 8:40.9. Additionally, Virgin held the Illinois Boys Cross Country all-time state championship record for 47 years, running a 13:50.6 in 1972, a record that stood until November 9, 2019, when Josh Methner of John Hersey High School ran a 13:49.86. Virgin was Track and Field News "High School Athlete of the Year" in 1973.
Geoffrey ("Geoff") Smith is a British long-distance runner who won the Boston Marathon in both 1984 and 1985. He was born in Liverpool. He represented Great Britain at the Summer Olympics twice, in the 10,000 m in 1980 and in the marathon in 1984.
Cornelis Wilhelmus Pieter "Cor" Vriend is a former long-distance runner from the Netherlands, who mainly competed in the marathon. He participated in two consecutive Summer Olympics for his native country; in 1980 and 1984. During the early 1980s he was overshadowed by his fellow countryman Gerard Nijboer.
Domingos Silva Castro is a former long-distance runner from Portugal, who was one of the leading athletes in the longer events during the late 1980s, early 1990s. He won the silver medal in the 5,000 metres at the 1987 World Championships. As a marathoner, he won the 1995 edition of the Paris Marathon, clocking 2:10:06, and the Rotterdam Marathon of 1997, in his personal best of 2:07:51. He won the Cross Internacional de Venta de Baños four times in his career – more than any other athlete. He also came in 2nd place overall in the 1999 New York City Marathon.
Kevin Barry Ryan is a retired male long-distance runner from New Zealand, who represented his native country in the men's marathon at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He was also a member of the ill-fated 1980 Olympic team which at the last minute boycotted the Moscow Olympics in support of the USA's boycott.
Domingo Tibaduiza Reyes is a former long-distance runner from Gameza, Colombia, who represented his native country at four consecutive Summer Olympics: in the 10,000 metres, the 5,000 metres (1976) and in the men's marathon. Jon Peter Anderson, is a lifelong Eugene, Oregon resident. He was a publisher and runner best known for winning the 1973 Boston Marathon. Anderson was a competitive long-distance runner from 1966 to 1984. He represented the United States as a member of the 1972 US Olympic track and field team.
Takeshi So is a retired long-distance runner from Japan, who represented his native country at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, California. He won the 1976 edition of the Košice Peace Marathon in Czechoslovakia. His twin brother Shigeru So is also a retired Olympic marathoner.
Jörg Peter is a former German long-distance runner. He held the German record over the marathon distance from 1988 till 2015.
Jouni Ensio Kortelainen is a retired male long-distance runner from Finland. He represented his native country at the 1980 Summer Olympics in the men's marathon. He set his personal best (2:12:09) in the classic distance on 3 May 1980, finishing in fourth place in Chemnitz. Kortelainen won the men's national marathon title in 1986.
Keith Alan "KB" Brantly is an American former professional long-distance runner who contended in the men's marathon at the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia. Brantly finished twenty-eighth of one hundred and eleven runners who completed the race, in a time of 2:18:17. He is recognized for his extensive distance-running career that encompasses nearly three decades at distances that range from one mile to a marathon.
Chang Sop-choe is a North Korean former long-distance runner. He competed in the marathon at the 1976 Summer Olympics and the 1980 Summer Olympics.
