Delta State is a state in the South-east geopolitical zone of Nigeria. Named after the Niger Delta—a large part of which is in the state—the state was formed from the former Bendel State on August 27,1991. Bordered on the north by Edo State,the east by Anambra and Rivers States,and the south by Bayelsa State while to the west is the Bight of Benin which covers about 160 kilometres of the state's coastline. The State was initially created with 12 local government areas in 1991 which was later extended to 19 and now has 25 local government areas. Asaba as its state capital is located along the River Niger on the northeastern end of the State,while the state's economic centre is the twin cities of Warri and Uvwie
University of Benin (UNIBEN) is a public research university located in Benin City,Edo State,Nigeria. It is among the universities owned by the Federal Government of Nigeria and was founded in 1970. The School currently has two campuses with fifteen faculties including a central library called the John Harris Library. The buildings in UNIBEN are sparsely built,they are not close to each other.
Lagos State University,also known as LASU,is located in Ojo,with sub-campuses at Ikeja and Epe both towns in Lagos State,Nigeria. The university was established in 1983 by the enabling law of Lagos State,for the advancement of learning and establishment of academic excellence;its motto being For Truth and Service. The university caters for over 35,000 students. The University was established during the Administration of Late Lateef Kayode Jakande. The university offers diploma,degree and post graduate programmes,including an MBA programme. LASU was ranked among the top 600 universities in the world by in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings for 2020. On 23 June,2021 LASU emerged as the best young university in Nigeria having been below the age of 50 years to be added. Times Higher Education ranked the Lagos State University as the second best university in Nigeria on the 2 September 2020,and was the only state university included in the rankings for 2022. The university has attracted international funding,including for the establishment of a World Bank Group Africa Centre for Excellence on Science,Technology,Engineering and Mathematics.
Eni Njoku was a Nigerian botanist and educator. He was vice-chancellor of the University of Lagos (1962–1965) and the University of Nigeria,Nsukka (1966–1970). He served in the Nigerian House of Representatives as federal minister of Mines and Power,and was chairman of the Electricity Corporation of Nigeria. He was an emissary at OAU-sponsored peace talks.

Anioma people are a subgroup of the Igbo ethnic group in Delta State,Nigeria. They are made up of communities which span across 9 Local government areas and speak different varieties of the Igbo language,including the Enuani language,Ukwuani language,and the Ika-Ibo language. The farther away you go from Onitcha after the Niger bridge and heading towards Agbor and Benin city,the deeper the dialect. They occupy Delta North Senatorial District,which consists of the Enuani (Oshimili/Aniocha),Ika,and Ukwuani/Ndokwa linguistic zones of Delta State.
Ile Oluji is a Local Government Area in Ondo State,Nigeria. Its headquarters are in the town of Ile Oluji.
There were three Polytechnics in Delta State,Nigeria,all established on 12 November 2002,located in Ogwashi-Uku,Ozoro,and Otefe-Oghara,Oghara. However,the Polytechnic that was in Ozoro has been transformed into a University by the state government. The Government of Delta State reached an understanding with the University of Westminster,London to assist in management and technical support for the institutions. The institutions are centres of excellence in Agriculture,Computing and Information Technology,Fashion Design and Arts and Sports. Besides their primary areas of specialization,all students are trained in Computing and Information Technology as well as business and entrepreneurship.
The Delta State University,Abraka - popularly known as DELSU - is a State government-owned university in Nigeria with the main campus located at Abraka,Delta State and it's sub campus at Oleh. The Oleh campus was established with the 1995 Amended Edict. The university is a multiple-campus university having two campuses within a distance of about 200 km apart. Currently,with a student population of about 22,000,the university offers a range of programmes from the full-time certificate,diploma and degree programmes to part-time evening and weekend degree programmes. DELSU offers postgraduate studies up to a doctoral level. DELSU owns a staff/student counselling centre,an e-learning centre,student accommodation and sporting facilities amidst other infrastructures. It is one of over twenty-five state-owned universities which are overseen and accredited by the National Universities Commission.
Ogwashi Ukwu,sometimes spelt as Ogwashi-Uku, is an Igbo town in Delta State,Nigeria. Located west of the state capital Asaba,and is the headquarters for the Local Government Area,Aniocha South. The population of Ogwashi-Ukwu is about 50,234.. However,its number has increased vastly and keeps increasing. It is one of the Anioma region of Delta State which is home to the Igbo-speaking people of Delta State. Its natives are the Enuani people,who are predominantly farmers and fishers. The villages in Ogwashi-Ukwu include Ikelike,Umu Dei,Azungwu,Agidiase,Agidiehe,Ogbe Akwu,Ishekpe,Ogbe Onicha,Ogbe Ubu,Ogbe Ani and Umu-okwe.
The Delta State Polytechnic,Ogwashi-Uku is one of the three polytechnics in Delta State,Located in Ogwashi-Uku,Nigeria. The polytechnic offers National Diplomas and Higher National Diplomas in Art and Design,Business,Engineering and Applied Sciences.
Victor F. Peretomode is an academic and is the immediate past Vice Chancellor of Delta State University. Peretomode was appointed by Delta State governor Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan on December 1,2014. His tenure as the Vice Chancellor ended on December 1,2019.
Ibiyinka A. Fuwape is a Nigerian academic,professor in physics and the 2nd substantive Vice-Chancellor of the Michael and Cecilia Ibru University,a private university in Nigeria.
Mukhtar Atiku Kurawa a professor of Inorganic Chemistry,Nigerian academician,administrator,and the former Rector of Kano State Polytechnic,the 3rd substantive Vice Chancellor of Yusuf Maitama Sule University,Kano.

Felix Kolawole Salako is a Nigerian professor of Soil Physics who served as Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture,Abeokuta,Ogun state,Nigeria from 2017 to 2022. He is also a Fellow of the Soil Science Society of Nigeria (FSSSN) and was a two-term deputy vice chancellor before his elevation as a vice chancellor.
