The 2013 United States elections were held on Tuesday, November 5, 2013. This off-year election featured several special elections to the United States Congress; two gubernatorial races; state legislative elections in a few states; and numerous citizen initiatives, mayoral races, and a variety of other local offices on the ballot.

Summer Lynn Lee is an American politician and community organizer serving as the U.S. Representative for Pennsylvania's 12th congressional district as a member of the Democratic Party. Lee previously served as a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 34th district. With the support of the local chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America, she defeated incumbent Paul Costa in the 2018 Democratic primary election with over 67% of the vote. Lee was the first black woman to represent Southwestern Pennsylvania in the state legislature.

For months after the election, partisan control of the chamber was claimed by both parties with 3 vacancies due to Democrats not being able to take their seats due to death or resignation. After protracted bipartisan negotiations, 16 Republicans joined all Democrats in voting for Mark Rozzi as Speaker, who subsequently announced that he would become an independent and no longer caucus with the Democrats. This meant that no party would have a majority in the House, in the event that Democrats win in special elections which will occur due to vacancies in safe Democratic-leaning seats.

It coincided with various other statewide elections, including for U.S. Senate, U.S. House, and Governor of Georgia. Georgia is one of 21 states that elects its lieutenant governor separately from its governor.
The 2022 Alabama House of Representatives elections were held on November 8, 2022. The Republican and Democratic primaries were held on May 24, 2022, and any races in which no candidate exceeded one-half plus one of the total vote advanced to a runoff on June 21, 2022. This is the first election cycle since 2002 in which the Libertarian Party of Alabama will be on the ballot, as they exceeded the threshold for petition signatures needed to gain ballot access in Alabama. Libertarian candidates were nominated by party convention. All 105 of Alabama's state representatives were up for reelection.
