Early general elections were held in Anguilla on 3 March 2000 after the government elected in 1999 collapsed after six months. The Anguilla National Alliance (ANA) emerged as the largest party, winning three of the seven seats in the House of Assembly. The ANA and the Anguilla Democratic Party had created the Anguilla United Front in January 2000, and between them the two parties held four of the seven seats, allowing them to form a government. [1]
Anguilla is a British overseas territory in the Caribbean. It is one of the most northerly of the Leeward Islands in the Lesser Antilles, lying east of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands and directly north of Saint Martin. The territory consists of the main island of Anguilla, approximately 16 miles (26 km) long by 3 miles (4.8 km) wide at its widest point, together with a number of much smaller islands and cays with no permanent population. The island's capital is The Valley. The total land area of the territory is 35 square miles (91 km2), with a population of approximately 14,764.

Politics of Anguilla takes place in a framework of a parliamentary representative democratic dependency, whereby the Chief Minister is the head of government, and of a multi-party system. Anguilla, the most northerly of the Leeward Islands in the Lesser Antilles, is an internally self-governing overseas territory of the United Kingdom. The United Nations Committee on Decolonization includes Anguilla on the United Nations list of Non-Self-Governing Territories. The territory's constitution is Anguilla Constitutional Order 1 April 1982. Executive power is exercised by the Chief Minister and the Executive Council. Legislative power is vested in both the Executive Council and the House of Assembly. The Judiciary is independent of the executive and the legislature. Military defence is the responsibility of the United Kingdom.
The 1924 United Kingdom general election was held on Wednesday 29 October 1924, as a result of the defeat of the Labour minority government, led by Ramsay MacDonald, in the House of Commons on a motion of no confidence. It was the third general election to be held in less than two years.

Osbourne Berrington Fleming is a politician and a former chief minister of Anguilla. He held that post from March 6, 2000, three days after the Anguilla United Front, a conservative coalition which included Fleming's Anguilla National Alliance won parliamentary elections, gaining at least 4 of the 7 seats, until February 15 2010 in which he retired from his seat as the chief minister of Anguilla. Mr. Fleming was a prominent and successful businessman prior to entering politics. He served for many years as Minister of Finance before winning election as Anguilla's Chief Minister.
The Anguilla national football team is the national team of Anguilla, a British Overseas Territory in the Caribbean, and is controlled by the Anguilla Football Association. It is affiliated to the Caribbean Football Union of CONCACAF. Along with the teams from the Bahamas, Tonga, Bhutan, Gibraltar, Eritrea, Montserrat, and Somalia, they are consistently ranked as among the worst teams in the world in the FIFA rankings.
The Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) is a state political party in the state of Bihar, India. It is led by Ram Vilas Paswan. The party was formed in 2000 when Paswan split from Janata Dal (United). The party has considerable following amongst Dalits in Bihar. Currently the party is a member of the National Democratic Alliance.

Hubert Hughes of the Anguilla United Party, who had stood on a pro-independence platform, was appointed Chief Minister following the election. The small Anguilla for Good Government party replaced PACE as the fourth party, but like its predecessor, failed to win representation. The future Chief Minister Osbourne Fleming held his seat of Sandy Hill as an independent.

The opposition Anguilla National Alliance won 3 seats. However, the coalition government lost its majority in May 1999 upon the resignation of Victor Banks, the Finance Minister and leader of the Anguilla Democratic Party. Due to the collapse of the ruling coalition, fresh elections were held in March 2000.
