Angus Tyers (born 9 November 1987) is an Australian former representative lightweight rower. He won a silver medal at the 2010 World Rowing Championships. In 2021 Angus became a father, with his partner Elizabeth, to Ted Tyers.
Tyers was raised in Melbourne. His senior club rowing was from the Melbourne University Boat Club.
He first made state selection for Victoria in 2006 in the men's youth eight which contested the Noel F Wilkinson Trophy at the Interstate Regatta within the Australian Rowing Championships. [1] He rowed again in the Victorian youth eight in 2007 this time at stroke. [2] In 2008 he was selected at stroke in the Victorian lightweight four to contest the Penrith Cup at the Interstate Regatta. [3] He made further Penrith Cup appearances for Victorian in 2009 and 2010, stroking all three Victorian lightweight fours in which he raced. [1]
In 2007 at the Australian University Championships and wearing Monash University colours he won the lightweight single sculls title. [4] He defended that title in 2008. [5]
Tyers made his Australian representative debut in 2008 at the World Rowing U23 Championships in Brandenburg World in a lightweight quad scull. They rowed to eighth place. The following year he was elevated to the Australian senior lightweight squad and rowed in a coxless four at the 2009 World Rowing Championships in Poznan finishing in fourteenth place. . [6]
In 2010 he was in contention for the Australian lightweight eight. That crew raced in coxless four combinations at the World Rowing Cups II and III in Europe with Tyers stroking one of those fours to an eleventh place in Munich. [6] At the 2010 World Rowing Championships in Lake Karapiro they came together as an eight and with Tyers in the two seat they took the silver medal at those world championships. [6]
Peter Thomas AntonieOAM is an Australian former rower. He is an Olympic & Commonwealth games gold medallist and world champion. He is regarded as one of Australia's greatest ever rowers figuring in senior representative squads consistently from 1977 to 1996 and representing Australia on eighteen occasions at three Olympics and fifteen World Rowing Championships. He competed at the highest levels as both a sculler and a sweep oarsman, in both lightweight and open divisions, across all boat classes. He won twenty-nine Australian national championship titles in his career.
The Adelaide University Boat Club is a rowing club affiliated with the University of Adelaide. The club was founded in 1881, and in 1896 helped to form the Adelaide University Sports Association. The main clubrooms, donated by Robert Barr Smith in 1909, are located on the north bank of the River Torrens on War Memorial Drive, adjacent to the Adelaide University Sports Grounds. The shed has two boat bays, a gym and weights room and a small bar. The club also leases a secondary boatshed at the South Australian Rowing Association complex on Military Road at West Lakes, and also trains regularly at Port Adelaide's North Arm Creek and Murray Bridge. Members have included rowers of all levels, from total beginners to Olympic Gold Medallists. The club shares the nickname "The Blacks" with the Adelaide University Football Club.
The Australian Rowing Championships is an annual rowing event that determines Australia's national rowing champions and facilitates selection of Australian representative crews for World Championships and the Olympic Games. It is Australia's premier regatta, with states, clubs and schools sending their best crews. The Championships commence with the National Regatta - men's, women's and lightweight events in open, under 23, under 19, under 17 and school age events. Rowers at the National Regatta race in their local club colours with composite crews permitted. The Championships conclude with the Interstate Regatta - currently eight events competed by state representative crews or scullers selected by the state rowing associations. The states compete for an overall points tally which decides the Zurich Cup.

Since 2017 he has been Managing Director and Chief Executive of Wesfarmers, the Perth-headquartered publicly listed industrial and retail conglomerate, which in 2016 was Australia's largest company by revenue and Australia's largest employer. As a sweep-oared heavyweight rower Scott was a national champion, an eight-time crewman in West Australian King's Cup eights and a four-time Australian representative at World Rowing Championships. He is a dual Olympian oarsman who won a silver medal in a coxless pair at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
Ross Brown is an Australian former national and world champion lightweight rower.
Simon Burgess is an Australian national champion, two-time World Champion, three-time Olympian and dual Olympic silver medal-winning lightweight rower. He represented Australia ten times at World Rowing Championships between 1990 and 2002. He won world and national championships in both sculls and in sweep-oared boat classes during an eighteen-year elite level career.
