Akwa Ibom State is a state in the South-South geopolitical zone of Nigeria. It borders Cross River State to the east,Rivers State and Abia State to the west and north-west,and to the south by the Atlantic Ocean. The state takes its name from the Qua Iboe River which bisects the state before flowing into the Bight of Bonny. Akwa Ibom was split from Cross River State in 1987 with her capital Uyo and with 31 local government areas.

Ibesikpo-Asutan is a Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State,Nigeria. It is inhabited by the Ibesikpo and Asutan clans. The Local Government Headquarters is Nung Udoe. It is the home of former Akwa Ibom State governor Obong Victor Attah. It is also home to the one time Chief of Air staff,Late Air Marshall Nsikak Eduok. It is made up of 43 villages. The Lutheran Church National Headquarters,Seminary,and Lutheran High school are located in the Local Government,at Obot Idim.
Nsit Atai Local government area was created in the year 1996 with its capital at Odot by the government of Gen. Sani Abacha. It has an area of out of an about 17,000 square kilometers,with 62 villages.

Chief Godswill Obot Akpabio is a Nigerian lawyer and politician who is currently serving as the 15th president of the Nigerian Senate since 2023. He was first elected as Senator representing Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District in 2015,lost in the 2019 senatorial elections and won in the 2023 elections. He also served as minister for Niger Delta Affairs from 2019 up till 2022 when he resigned to seek re-election into the Nigerian senate.
