Anjali Taarak Mehta also known as ATM, is a fictional character from the television series Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah . Anjali is the wife of writer Taarak Mehta. She is a dietician and is among the central characters of the series. The character was created by Asit Kumarr Modi and originally portrayed by Neha Mehta. [1]

Development

Anjali Mehta is an independent opinionated women known for her strict diet food and quirky ideas. Neha Mehta was all set to quit acting and leave for New York, for a course in filmmaking, when she was offered the role of Anjali. [2] The character of Anjali was originally portrayed by Neha Mehta from 2008 to 2020, for 12 years. [3] Since 2020, Anjali is played by Sunayana Fozdar. [4]

Influence

Anjali's character emphasis community values and is known as a dutiful wife, who takes care of her husband's health. Her soft and subtle nature makes her character lovable. [5] Her friendship with Daya (played by Disha Vakani), and interactions with other women of the society, is a source of entertainment. Anjali's chemistry with her on-screen husband Shailesh Lodha, has garnered significant attention, with fans frequently expressing their admiration for the couple. [6] [7]

In other media

In 2023 Neela Films, the production house of the show, [8] launched "Anjali Fruit Merge", [9] a mobile game based on the character Anjali Taarak Mehta, after investing a noteworthy sum of ₹24 crore into the gaming platform. [10]
