:ankoku butoh: is the fifth studio album by Gothic rock band Faith and the Muse. It comprises one CD and one DVD. It was the band's first release on the Danse Macabre label. [1]

Contents

Thematically, the album reflects elements of Shinto and Japanese culture. [2] In accordance with this, the booklet accompanying the album was printed back-to-front.

The Faint was originally known as Norman Bailer and included Conor Oberst. Butoh post-WWII Japanese dance form

Butoh is a form of Japanese dance theatre that encompasses a diverse range of activities, techniques and motivations for dance, performance, or movement. Following World War II, butoh arose in 1959 through collaborations between its two key founders Tatsumi Hijikata and Kazuo Ohno. The art form is known to "resist fixity" and be difficult to define; notably, founder Hijikata Tatsumi viewed the formalisation of butoh with "distress". Common features of the art form include playful and grotesque imagery, taboo topics, extreme or absurd environments, and it is traditionally performed in white body makeup with slow hyper-controlled motion. However, with time butoh groups are increasingly being formed around the world, with their various aesthetic ideals and intentions.

Sparks are an American pop and rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1967 by brothers Ron (keyboards) and Russell Mael (vocals). Known for their quirky approach to songwriting, Sparks' music is often accompanied by intelligent, sophisticated, and acerbic lyrics, and an idiosyncratic, theatrical stage presence, typified in the contrast between Russell's animated, hyperactive frontman antics and Ron's deadpan scowling. Faith and the Muse band

Faith and the Muse is an American gothic rock/dark wave band composed of two musicians, Monica Richards and William Faith. Their music encompasses many genres, from folk-style songs to darker compositions, drawing on many sources and influences, notably Dead Can Dance. Richards is the primary singer, although Faith sings one or two tracks on each album. Their influences include dark alternative, gothic rock, Celtic, and other folk influences. Welsh and Irish mythology have often served as inspiration to many of the band's songs.

NSRGNTS RMXS, is the name of a remix EP released by British musician, songwriter and music producer Steven Wilson, comprising remixes of his first full-length studio album, Insurgentes. Faith Divides Us – Death Unites Us is the twelfth studio album by British gothic metal band Paradise Lost, released through Century Media in September 2009. The album cover is based upon the Danse Macabre – "The Abbot" woodcut, first published in 1538. Peter Damin served as drummer for this album.

Waves under Water is a Swedish darkwave/synthpop band formed in October 2007 by the singer Angelica Segerbäck and the composer Johan Svärdshammar. The band has a romantic image which flirts with goth, steampunk and new romantic.

Angelica Segerbäck (Angel) is lead vocalist in the bands Waves under Water and LinaLaukaR which she and Johan Svärdshammar started together. She has also appeared on a few songs by other bands.

Mob Research is an American-based rock band, with a multi-national lineup including Killing Joke / Ministry bassist Paul Raven, Warrior Soul vocalist Kory Clarke, and two members of Peter Murphy's band, guitarist Mark Thwaite formerly of The Mission, and drummer Nick Lucero formerly of Queens of the Stone Age.

Johan Svärdshammar is composer, guitarist and backing vocalist in the bands Waves under Water and LinaLaukaR which he founded together with Angelica Segerbäck. In the past he has also played in other band formations such as Cynthia Leech.

Burning Image band

Burning Image are an American deathrock band formed in Bakersfield, California in 1982. Burning Image first released a 7" single with the songs "The Final Conflict" and "Burning Image, Burning" in the summer of 1984. The compilation 1983-1987 in 2004 and album Fantasma (2009) were both released on Alternative Tentacles, record label owned by former Dead Kennedys singer, Jello Biafra, with album Oleander (2011) being self-published. Burning Image celebrates 37 years as a band, in 2019, with a new album.
