She came from the Blackhawk ski club, and attends the University of Utah. [5]
When Anna was only 6, she was the youngest of the girl picked for the first-ever camp girls' ski jump camp at the Olympic jumping complex, 8 years before it became an official Olympic sport; Lindsey Van mentored her during that camp. [6]
Hoffmann qualified for the 2022 Olympics after winning the ski jumping competition at the U.S. Nordic Combined & Ski Jump Olympic Trials on December 25, 2021, in Lake Placid, N.Y. [7] She had previously competed in the Junior World Championships 4 times. [8] Hoffmann was the only American woman who qualified to compete for Team USA in the women's individual normal hill. [9] It was due to her inclusion that the U.S. kept their streak alive of having women represented in ski jumping every Olympics since women's ski jump was introduced as an Olympic sport. [10]
The women's ski jump director, Blake Hughes, said of Anna's inclusion, "This nomination for Anna is a testament to her work ethic and commitment to the sport. Anna has become a true leader for her team and it has been a privilege to watch her progress over the past few years as she has become an elite athlete. Hoffmann came in 3rd at the 2022 Ski Jumping National Championships in Park City, Utah. [12]
Hoffman is the youngest of three, all of whom ski. Two of her siblings, Elyse and Joe, were both on the U.S. Junior National Ski Jumping Team. [13]
Janne Petteri Ahonen is a Finnish former ski jumper and drag racer. He competed in ski jumping between 1992 and 2018, and is one of the sport's most successful athletes of all time, as well as one of the most successful from Finland. Ahonen won two consecutive World Cup overall titles, the Four Hills Tournament a record five times, two individual gold medals at the World Championships, and the Nordic Tournament once. Nicknamed Kuningaskotka, he has been described as the greatest ski jumper to have never won an individual medal at the Winter Olympics.
Snowboarding is a sport at the Winter Olympic Games. It was first included in the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan. Snowboarding was one of five new sports or disciplines added to the Winter Olympic program between 1992 and 2002, and was the only one not to have been a previous medal or demonstration event. In 1998, four events, two for men and two for women, were held in two specialities: the giant slalom, a downhill event similar to giant slalom skiing; and the half-pipe, in which competitors perform tricks while going from one side of a semi-circular ditch to the other. Canadian Ross Rebagliati won the men's giant slalom and became the first athlete to win a gold medal in snowboarding. Rebagliati was briefly stripped of his medal by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) after testing positive for marijuana. However, the IOC's decision was reverted following an appeal from the Canadian Olympic Association. For the 2002 Winter Olympics, giant slalom was expanded to add head-to-head racing and was renamed parallel giant slalom. In 2006, a third event, the snowboard cross, was held for the first time. In this event, competitors race against each other down a course with jumps, beams and other obstacles. On July 11, 2011, the International Olympic Committee's Executive Board approved the addition of Ski and Snowboard Slopestyle to the Winter Olympics roster of events, effective in 2014. The decision was announced via press conference from the IOC's meeting in Durban, South Africa. A fifth event, parallel slalom, was added only for 2014. Big air was added for 2018.
Lindsey Marie Van is an American former ski jumper who won her first of 13 U.S. National Ski Jumping Championships in 1998 and competed in her first FIS event in 2002. Van won a gold medal in the inaugural women's ski jumping event at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2009 in Liberec and has a total of eight Continental Cup victories in her career.
Marina Charlotte Kalla is a Swedish retired cross-country skier. A four-time Olympian, Kalla won three golds and nine medals overall at the Olympics between 2004 and 2022. She holds the joint record as Sweden's most decorated Olympic competitor and is the all-time leader among Swedish female athletes. She is also a 13-time medalist at the World Championships, including a gold medal at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2015 10 km freestyle event in Falun. This made Kalla the first Swedish female cross-country skier to win individual golds in both the Olympics and World Championships. In 2008, Kalla won the Jerring Award.

Holly Brooks is an American cross-country skier from Seattle, Washington who competed for Whitman College in 2001–04 and has competed recreationally since 2009. She has four victories in lesser events up to 10 km, all earned in 2009. She was a late qualifier to the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, her second ever international skiing competition following the 2010 World Cup in Canmore. She went on to qualify for the World Championship team in 2011 and the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi. Brooks retired from world-class ski racing after the 2015-2016 season.

Tara Davis-Woodhall is an American track and field athlete. She won a gold medal in women's long jump at the 2024 Summer Olympics and also a silver medal at the 2023 World Championships. In 2017, she set the American junior women's record in the indoor long jump, and placed 6th in the women's long jump final at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Davis-Woodhall is also a hurdler.

Abigail Strate is a Canadian ski jumper, born in Calgary, Alberta. Strate began ski jumping at six years old, and entered her first international competition when she was ten, in Utah. In her participation at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, Strate won Canada's first Bronze medal in Ski jumping, in the mixed team event. Strate also notably ranked 23rd in the Women's Normal Hill Individual event, with a total of 161.9 points. In her free time, Strate enjoys spending time outside by mountain biking, beekeeping, gardening, and caring for her chickens.
