The Bank of Greece is the Greek member of the Eurosystem and has been the monetary authority for Greece from 1927 to 2000, issuing the drachma. Since 2014, it has also been Greece's national competent authority within European Banking Supervision. Its headquarters is located in Athens on Panepistimiou Street, and it also has several branches across the country. Kroussa or Kroussia is a former municipality in Kilkis regional unit, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Kilkis, of which it is a municipal unit. It is located in the northeastern corner of the regional unit, bordering western Serres and northern Thessaloniki. The municipal unit has an area of 588.877 km2. Its population is 4,638. The seat of the municipality was in Terpyllos. Melissourgio is one of the most picturesque villages in the municipal unit. Agios Antonios is one of the villages nearby. The largest villages in the municipal unit are Efkarpía, Térpyllos, Eptálofos (360), Váthi (309) and Fyska (152). The municipal unit is divided into 19 communities. In Palatiano, there is the most important archaeological site of Northern Greece. It was the ancient city of Ioron, flourished from 10th century BC to 3rd century AD, continuously.

The Conference of Presidents is a collective institution of the Hellenic Parliament. Its role is to improve the functioning of Parliament through cooperation between the Speaker of the Parliament and the Presidents of the Committees. It was introduced by the Standing Orders of 1987 and found its constitutional sanction in the Amendment of 2001.

Dionysios (Denis) Ikkos was a Greek physician who trained in Endocrinology at Karolinska Hospital, Stockholm with Rolf Luft and co-described the Luft-Ikkos mitochondrial syndrome. He pioneered the Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism in Evangelismos Hospital, Athens, where he distinguished himself in clinical practice, research and teaching, and was a founding member of the Hellenic (Greek) Endocrine Society which honours his contribution with the annual Dionysios Ikkos Memorial Lecture. He was an early advocate and supported the establishment of General Practice/ Family Medicine as a medical specialty in Greece. The Hellenic (Greek) Association of General Practice also honours his contribution with the Dionysios Ikkos prize, the highest prize awarded for a presentation in the association's annual congress. Dionysios Ikkos was married to Danae Ikkou- Papadimitriou, a distinguished Paediatric Cardiologist and pioneer of her specialty in Greece.

Ourania "Rania" Antonopoulou a.k.a. Rania Antonopoulos is a Greek heterodox economist and Syriza politician. After the January 2015 election, MP Alexis Tsipras named her as the Greek Alternate Minister for Combating Unemployment in his cabinet tasked to implement a job guarantee policy based on her previous work experience and a specific study for Greece with other colleagues at the Levy Economics Institute. She remains a Syriza member. On the 5th of September 2018 she was appointed by the Greek Government as the Permanent Representative of Greece (Ambassador) to the OECD in Paris, France, entrusting her to represent the country despite the severe media attack she had been subjected to a few months earlier. Between February and August 2015, she also was a member of the Hellenic Parliament.
The 1956 Amorgos earthquake occurred at 03:11 UTC on July 9. It had a magnitude of 7.7 on the moment magnitude scale and a maximum perceived intensity of IX on the Mercalli intensity scale. The epicentre was to the south of the island of Amorgos, the easternmost island of the Cyclades in the Aegean Sea. There was significant damage on Amorgos and the neighbouring island of Santorini. It was the largest earthquake in Greece in the 20th century. It was followed 13 minutes later by a magnitude 7.2 earthquake near Santorini. It triggered a major tsunami with a maximum run-up of 30 m. The combined effects of the earthquake shaking and the tsunami caused the deaths of 53 people with a further 100 injured.
