Anne S. Zickus

Anne S. Zickus (born April 6, 1939) is a former American businesswoman and politician. From Palos Hills, Illinois, Zickus worked in the real estate business. She served on the Palos Hills City Council and was involved with the Republican Party. Zickus served in the Illinois House of Representatives from 1989 to 1991 and from 1993 to 2003. [1] [2]

It is at 7351 South Stony Island Avenue in the South Shore neighborhood. Louis Farrakhan's headquarters are on the premises. The building was originally the Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church before it relocated to suburban Palos Hills. Elijah Muhammad, Farrakhan’s predecessor as head for NOI, purchased the building in 1972. Muhammad was lent $3 million from Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi to convert the former church into the Mosque Maryam.

Palos Township is one of 29 townships in Cook County, Illinois. As of the 2010 census, its population was 54,615, with its most populous municipality being Palos Hills. The vast majority of the township's population resides in its eastern half; the half west of La Grange Road consists mainly of facilities in the Cook County Forest Preserves. In 1850 the small town of Trenton, Illinois changed its name to Palos; this recommendation was made by M.S. Powell, the local postmaster, whose ancestor supposedly sailed with Christopher Columbus from Palos de la Frontera. When it incorporated as a village in 1914, Palos officially became Palos Park. The neighboring communities of Palos Hills and Palos Heights incorporated at later points. All three municipalities lie completely or substantially within Palos Township.

Frank Arthur Vanderlip Sr. was an American banker and journalist. He was president of the National City Bank of New York from 1909 to 1919, and Assistant Secretary of the Treasury from 1897 to 1901. Vanderlip is known for his part in founding the Federal Reserve System and for founding the first Montessori school in the United States, the Scarborough School and the group of communities in Palos Verdes, California.

Lee J. Roupas is a former Committeeman for the Palos Township Republican Organization as well as the former Chairman of the Cook County Republican Party in Cook County, Illinois. At a national level, Lee worked on the re-election campaign of President George W. Bush in Washington, D.C. as a Surrogate Event Coordinator, planning rallies for the President in battleground states across the country. He served the Republican Party on the 2004 Republican National Convention staff. He served the Party on the 55th Presidential Inauguration staff and later as the Communications Director for the Republican Party of Virginia. Prior to being elected Chairman of the Cook County Republican Party, he served on the Cook County GOP Executive Committee under Chairmen Gary Skoien and Liz Gorman.

Palos Heights School District 128 is a PK-8 Cook County, Illinois school district located in the southern village of Palos Heights; the district serves Palos Heights Proper and the majority of its neighboring unincorporated areas. All in all, the district is composed of four schools: Indian Hill Preschool, of which educates the prekindergarteners of the district, serves roughly 7% of the district students; Cathy Leslie serves as the director of the prekindergarten program at the facility. Chippewa Elementary School, the most populous of the schools as of May 2008, educates District 128 students in grades one through three, and also runs a kindergarten program; it is under the direction of Mary Ann Redshaw. Those in grades four through five attend Navajo Heights Elementary School, which bridges the gap between the elementary schools and the grades 6–8 Independence Junior High School; the principal of Navajo Heights Elementary School is Sharon Herman, while the principal of Independence Junior High School is Dr. Kevin Kirk.
