Anqing railway station is a railway station in Yixiu District, Anqing, Anhui, China.

The station is the eastern terminus of the Anqing railway, a branch line from the Hefei–Jiujiang railway. It is the western terminus of the Nanjing–Anqing intercity railway. It is also the eastern terminus of a branch from the Hefei–Jiujiang high-speed railway.

History

The station opened in 1995. [1] In 2004, a line heading east from this station to a nearby power plant was opened. [2] This line is no longer in use, but the route east was reused by the Nanjing–Anqing intercity.

A project to upgrade the station in preparation for the opening of the Nanjing–Anqing intercity railway began in May 2014. [1] The refurbished station opened on 3 December 2015. [3]

The Chinese name for the line, Ningxi, is named after the two terminal cities, Ning, the Chinese character shorthand for the city of Nanjing, and Xi for Xian. The line is 1,196 km (743 mi) in length and comprises the Xi’an-Hefei section in the west, 1,196 km (743 mi) in length, that opened on January 7, 2004. And the high-speed Hefei–Nanjing section in the east, better known as the Hefei–Nanjing passenger railway, 166 km (103 mi) in length opened on April 18, 2008. In addition, a connection line 72 km (45 mi) in length was built in 2004 connected the main line in Sui County and the Hankou–Danjiangkou railway in northern Hubei. The Tongling–Jiujiang railway or Tongjiu railway, is a single-track railroad in eastern China between Tongling in Anhui Province and Jiujiang in Jiangxi Province. The line is 251 km (156 mi) long and follows the south bank of the Yangtze River. Major cities and towns along route include Tongling, Chizhou, Dongzhi County, Pengze, Hukou County and Jiujiang.

Located on the Longhai Railway and just to the north of Xi'an's historical walled city, the station had long been the main train station for the Xi'an metropolitan area. With the opening of Xi'an North railway station on the northern outskirts of the city in 2011, most of the high-speed services, including the G- and D-series trains of the Zhengzhou–Xi'an high-speed railway, have been transferred to the new station. The Chongqing West railway station is a railway station of Chengyu Passenger Railway that is located in Shapingba District of Chongqing, People's Republic of China. It is the second largest railway station, after Xi'an North, in South Western China when opened on January 25, 2018. It will serve as Chongqing's connection with many destinations across south-western and north-western China. Situated in Shangqiao area of Shapingba, near the intersections of the G93 Chengdu–Chongqing Ring Expressway and the G85 Chongqing–Kunming Expressways. This is the third major railway station to serve Chongqing, after Chongqing North and Chongqing Stations. It opened in conjunction with the smaller nearby Shapingba station on the same day.

Guangzhou–Foshan–Zhaoqing intercity railway, also known as Guangfozhao intercity railway or Foshan–Zhaoqing intercity railway, is a regional railway within Guangdong province, China. It connects the provincial capital of Guangzhou with Zhaoqing, via Foshan. It is a part of the Pearl River Delta Metropolitan Region intercity railway network. It commenced operations on March 30, 2016.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Hefei–Anqing–Jiujiang high-speed railway</span> Chinese high-speed railway

The Hefei–Anqing–Jiujiang high-speed railway is a 340-kilometre (211 mi) long high-speed rail line in China, with a maximum speed of 350 km/h (220 mph). It forms part of the Beijing–Hong Kong (Taipei) corridor. The line takes a similar route to the existing Hefei–Jiujiang railway.

The Lu'an–Anqing high-speed railway is a high-speed rail line in China. It will be 168 kilometres (104 mi) long and have a top speed of 250 kilometres per hour (160 mph). Construction started on 30 December 2020.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Lujiang–Tongling railway</span>

The Lujiang–Tongling railway is a single-track railway in China. The combined passenger and freight line is 112 kilometres (70 mi) long and has a design speed of 120 kilometres per hour (75 mph). Passive provision was provided for electrification and a speed increase to 160 kilometres per hour (99 mph). It was built to transport freight, particularly coal and minerals.
