Antagonist is an American metalcore band from Whittier, California, formed in 1998. They released numerous EPs prior to being signed with Prosthetic Records. They have released two albums while under the Prosthetic Records banner, "Exist" and "World in Decline". In 2012, Antagonist once again became an independent band and released the five-song EP, “Antagonist” (2015). In 2019, Antagonist signed with independent label Infinite Strength Records and released a two-song EP “Human Failure” on July 19.
The current line-up of the band consists of guitarist/vocalist Carlos Garcia, drummer Orlando "Lond" Garcia, guitarist Roland Leonard and bassist Colby White.
Antagonist began when middle school friends Carlos Garcia, Marcus Hill and David Zamora jammed on cover tunes in the summer of 1998. That September, Garcia started his first year of high school, where he met drummer Orlando "Lond" Garcia (no relation) in his gym class. After a few months of talking, they finally set up a jam session in Lond's garage. And on November 4, 1998, the band officially formed. There were a few band names thrown around, such as Useless, Static, and Chunty Wunty and His Band of Merry Elephants, but they agreed on Antagonist after it was suggested by Zamora. Their first few shows were backyard parties and their sets consisted of mainly cover tunes by bands like Nirvana, Rage Against the Machine, and the Deftones. After 2 shows, the band parted ways with Zamora on guitar due to creative differences. They played their first "all originals" set in the Spring of 1999 at the now defunct Showcase Theatre in Corona, CA. They continued to play as a 3 piece, where they played many local shows and recorded 2 demos, the full-length "Prozac" and the "Winnetka" EP. In 2001, they added a second guitarist, Matt Lopez. As a 4 piece, they recorded "Writings on the Wall" EP (2002), "Live at the Showcase" EP (2003), and "Intended to Hurt or Wound" EP (2003). Antagonist parted ways with longtime bassist and founding member Marcus Hill after various altercations he had during their shows. Paul Salem joined the band shortly after, [1] and they immediately recorded "Eschatology" (2004). In 2005, they recorded the "Samsara" EP, with a limited pressing of 500. Their next recording was their first proper full-length, "The Architecture of Discord" (2005). This would be their last self-released effort. 2005 was also the year Antagonist went on its first tours, first with the bands Winds of Plague and With Dead Hands Rising, and then with Winds of Plague in the Winter of 2005/2006. In 2006, Antagonist signed a 1-album deal with Dwell Records. [2] [3] The band went into with studio with Producer Rollie Ulug (Force of Change, Graf Orlock, As Hope Dies) and on November 21, 2006, "An Envy of Innocence" was released in the USA. It was accompanied by the band's first music video for the track "The Chaos We Breathe," directed by Ritchie Valdez (Stick To Your Guns, All Shall Perish, As Blood Runs Black).
The band toured throughout the next year or so without any major label support. In the Fall of 2007, Antagonist were signed to Prosthetic Records. [4] They entered the studio in the Spring of 2008 to record their full-length "Exist," with Producer Fred Archambault (Avenged Sevenfold, Eighteen Visions, Valient Thorr). The album was released on September 30, 2008 on Prosthetic Records. In early 2009, both Matt Lopez and Paul Salem departed the band due to family and work obligations, respectively. [5] Antagonist hired long-time friend and local guitarist Roland Leonard to fill in temporarily on guitar for the next few tours. After two tours, the band decided to make Leonard permanent. [6] The bassist slot rotated with fill-ins, but finally in the summer of 2009, another long-time friend Nick Reyes decided to step down from his usual guitar duties and took over the role of bassist for Antagonist. The new lineup played their first show in September 2009. [7] Antagonist returned to the studio in the Spring of 2010 to record its second Prosthetic full-length, "World in Decline" with Producer Paul Miner (Throwdown, Death By Stereo, Terror). [8] It was released on August 17, 2010, and on August 18, 2010 the band kicked off a tour in support of the album, dubbed the "Shredding Pumpkins" Tour, Antagonist joined the bands Wretched and Diskreet for a full USA tour that concluded on October 13 in Tucson, AZ. In December 2023, the band announced they would be disbanding following a farewell show. [10]

Poison the Well is an American metalcore band from Miami, Florida who were last signed to Ferret Music. In 2010, they announced a hiatus to explore other interests. Lead guitarist Ryan Primack and drummer Christopher Hornbrook were the only remaining founding members, although vocalist Jeffrey Moreira featured on all five of their full-length albums. The band has since performed several reunion shows: two in 2015, eleven in 2016 and one in 2020. Their albums have sold a combined total of over 300,000 copies in the United States as of 2012.
Madball is an American New York hardcore band. Originated in the late 1980s as a side project of Agnostic Front, the band developed after Agnostic Front's vocalist Roger Miret would let his younger half-brother Freddy Cricien take the microphone and perform lead vocals during Agnostic Front shows. Following, Agnostic Front's 1992 disbandment, Madball became the members' main project and many became a part of the band who were never in Agnostic Front. They have released nine studio albums and four EPs.
Every Time I Die was an American metalcore band from Buffalo, New York, formed in 1998. For most of the band's career, the line-up was centred on brothers Keith (vocals) and Jordan Buckley (guitar), as well as rhythm guitarist Andy Williams, with bassist Stephen Micciche also being in the band for a cumulative 15 of the bands 24 years. After spending the first decade of their career on the Ferret Music label, they signed with Epitaph Records in 2008 and remained there until their split in early 2022. Every Time I Die released nine studio albums, with their final album Radical being released in October 2021.
Despised Icon is a Canadian deathcore band from Montreal, Quebec. Formed in 2002, the band is noted for the talent of its drummer, Alex Pelletier, who makes frequent use of the blasting technique, as well as for its dual lead vocalists; Alex Erian and Steve Marois.

Their music is often described as melodic hardcore, which is characterized by fast tempos, catchy melodies, and emotionally charged singing and shouting. Blood Has Been Shed was an American metalcore band based in Granby, Connecticut. The band came together in 1997 and has featured members of Killswitch Engage, Diecast, Light the Torch, Red Tide, Terror, Walls of Jericho, Bury Your Dead and The Acacia Strain. Blood Has Been Shed has released three full-length albums—I Dwell on Thoughts of You (1998), Novella of Uriel (2001) and Spirals (2003)—and was signed to Ferret Music and Roadrunner Records. The band was a frequent performer at metal festivals Hellfest and the New England Metal and Hardcore Festival.
The Envy Corps is an American alternative rock band originally from Ames, Iowa. Members include Brandon Darner (guitar), Micah Natera, Luke Pettipoole, and Scott Yoshimura (drums). Discovered on Myspace by Universal Music imprint Vertigo, the band was transplanted into the UK indie dance/rock scene of the late 2000s. Future independent releases found the band experimenting with sounds inspired by Radiohead, Talk Talk, Portishead, and Bjork in relative obscurity outside their home state of Iowa.

Oh, Sleeper is an American metalcore band from Fort Worth, Texas that formed in 2006 with former members of Terminal. In over a decade's span, Oh, Sleeper has released four full-length albums, two EPs, and toured worldwide as an opening act. After independently releasing The Titan EP and traveling in the full Van's Warped Tour 2013, the band went on hiatus to allow clean vocalist and lead guitarist Shane Blay to join As I Lay Dying members in starting California-based metal band Wovenwar. The band's fourth full-length album, Bloodied / Unbowed, was released on July 12, 2019.
Trap Them was an American hardcore punk band formed in Salem, New Hampshire in 2001. They released five studio albums and five EPs, including a split EP with Extreme Noise Terror.
Scale the Summit is an American instrumental progressive metal band formed in Houston, Texas in 2004. The band comprises guitarist Chris Letchford, bassist Kilian Duarte and drummer Charlie Engen. They were signed to Prosthetic Records before the band decided to release their work independently. The band is influenced by other progressive acts such as Cynic and Dream Theater. The band gained notice as part of the Progressive Nation 2009 tour with Dream Theater, Zappa Plays Zappa and Bigelf.

Death by Stereo is an American hardcore punk band formed in Orange County, California circa 1998 by frontman Efrem Schulz. They are well known for their energetic performances and intricate guitar work. Their name can be attributed to the 1987 horror film The Lost Boys, in which Corey Haim speaks the line.
Born of Osiris is an American progressive metalcore band formed in 2003 in Palatine, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. The band currently consists of lead vocalist Ronnie Canizaro, lead guitarist Lee McKinney, rhythm guitarist/bassist Nick Rossi, drummer Cameron Losch, and keyboardist/vocalist Joe Buras. Born of Osiris has played at various festivals including the Summer Slaughter Tour and the Music as a Weapon Tour 4.

A key factor of their sound is the "Boss HM-2 Heavy Metal Pedal", which was popularized by bands such as Entombed, Dismember and Edge of Sanity in the early 1990s.
PMtoday was a progressive post-hardcore band from Jacksonville, Arkansas, formerly signed to Rise Records. They released two EPs as well as two full-length albums, And Then the Hurricane in 2007 and In Medias Res in 2010. The band consisted of brothers Connor, Ryan, and Cuinn Brogan, as well as Jerrod Morgan.
King Conquer was an American deathcore band from Naples, Florida. Since the band's inception, they released two EPs independently before being signed to Mediaskare Records where the group released their debut album entitled America's Most Haunted on November 23, 2010. The band's second album, titled 1776, was released on July 16, 2013.
