Anthony Gruszka was a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly.

Biography

Gruszka was born on January 14, 1910, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. [1] Later, he moved to Mosinee, Wisconsin. He died on November 4, 1972, in La Crosse, Wisconsin. [2]

Career

Gruszka was a member of the Assembly from 1939 to 1940. In 1954, he was a candidate in the Republican primary for the United States House of Representatives from Wisconsin's 4th congressional district. [3] He lost to John C. Schafer.

Thompson won the election with 53% of the vote, winning his first term as Governor of Wisconsin and defeating incumbent Governor Anthony S. Earl. This was the first time since 1962 that the winner of a Wisconsin gubernatorial election was of the same party as the incumbent president. Jonathan B. Barry unsuccessfully sought the Republican nomination.
