Anthony "Tony" Ribera (born January 25,1945) is the former Police chief of the City and County of San Francisco.
Ribera grew up in San Francisco's Richmond District where he attended George Washington High School [1] and went on to earn a Ph.D in Public Administration from Golden Gate University. [1] He also attended Sacred Heart High School,and served in the U.S. Army
As Chief of Police,Ribera was known for his hair-trigger temper and aggressive "my way or the highway" approach which was detested in the Department. Deputy Chief Frank Reed responded to an interview about Ribera's style saying "Yes,we have had very lively and spirited discussions both in our private conferences and in other places,as well. The chief is very hard of hearing in his left ear so everything he says is in a loud tone." [2]
In Ribera's second year as Chief of Police,department spokeswoman Joanne Welsh accused Ribera of pressuring her for sexual favors following her firing from the Police Department's Public Affairs Office in 1993. Ribera denied the allegations and any rumors of him stepping down as Chief. In 1995,Ribera and the San Francisco Police Department ultimately won the court battle on Joanne Welsh's sexual harassment allegation but lost on her claim of gender bias,with the jury agreeing she had suffered emotional distress and awarding her $56,835 in damages. Ribera ran as the sole Republican in the November 2003 Mayoral Race,finishing in sixth place with 2.4% of the vote.
After the mayoral race,Ribera retired from San Francisco politics and is now an assistant professor at the University of San Francisco where he teaches law enforcement. [4]

The 2003 San Francisco mayoral election occurred on November 4,2003. The incumbent,Willie Brown,was termed out of office and could not seek a third term. The general election included three top candidates including then Supervisor Gavin Newsom and then president of the board of supervisors,Matt Gonzalez and former supervisor Angela Alioto. No candidate received the required majority,so the race went into a run-off of the two top candidates,which were Gavin Newsom and Matt Gonzalez. The run-off occurred on December 9,2003,where Gavin Newsom was elected mayor of San Francisco.

Perry,570. U.S. (2013),as well as the legal fight against Proposition 8. He was first elected as City Attorney in 2001,and re-elected without opposition in 2005,2009,2013,2015 and 2019. He ran unsuccessfully for Mayor of San Francisco in the 2011 election,finishing third in the City's ranked-choice voting system. After his long-standing position as City Attorney,he was unanimously approved in 2021 to become the general manager of the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission.
Lai Jean Quan is an American politician that served as the 49th mayor of Oakland,California from 2011 to 2015. She previously served as City Council member for Oakland's 4th District. Upon inauguration on January 3,2011,she became Oakland's first female mayor. Dominic Foppoli is an American politician and businessperson. He is the former Mayor of Windsor,California,a position he held from December 2018 until May 2021. Between April and May 2021,numerous women made sexual abuse and assault allegations against Foppoli dating back to 2002. Foppoli,who denies wrongdoing,is currently under investigation by the Attorney General of California. He is also under investigation for possible campaign finance violations by the California Fair Political Practices Commission. Foppoli refused to resign from office,causing a recall campaign to be launched in April 2021. Foppoli resigned from office on May 21,2021. In August 2021,Foppoli filed paperwork with intent to run for Mayor of Windsor for the November 2022 election.
