Anu Menon is an Indian film director and screenwriter. She has directed movies such as London, Paris, New York (2012), Waiting (2016) and worked with non-mainstream actors like Naseeruddin Shah, Suhasini Maniratnam and Kalki Koechlin. Menon is a graduate of London Film School.
Anu grew up in Delhi, studied in KV Andrews Ganj. She got her bachelor's in engineering at BITS Pilani and worked in advertising. She attended a workshop at NYFA and later enrolled for a filmmaking course at London Film School. [1] [2]
Early in her career, she made short films Ravi Goes To School, and Baby, a documentary on a Bengali domestic help who wrote a bestseller. [3] Her debut film was a romantic comedy London, Paris, New York (2012) starring Ali Zafar and Aditi Rao Hydari, The second movie Waiting (2016) featured Kalki Koechlin and Naseeruddin Shah, was produced by Ishka Films and Drishyam Films. [1] [4] [5] Menon was also part of a team of directors who worked on a collaborative project called X: Past Is Present in which she directed a segment called Oysters . [6] [7]
Anupama Menon (nee Balakrishnan) is married and her husband is from Kerala they have a daughter called Rhea Menon. [8]

Naseeruddin Shah is an Indian actor. He was notable in Indian parallel cinema and has starred in various international productions. He has won numerous awards in his career, including three National Film Awards, three Filmfare Awards and the Volpi Cup for Best Actor at the Venice Film Festival. The Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri and the Padma Bhushan awards for his contributions to Indian cinema.

The official theatrical trailer was released on 14 January 2012 while the film was released worldwide on 2 March 2012, to positive reviews. Made on a budget of ₹7 crores including promotional costs, the film earned ₹ 240 million. The film earned Rs. 64.3 million in first week in domestic box office and Rs. 90 million lifetime. In overseas too it was a winner and earned Rs. 20 million in first week and Rs. 40 million lifetime.

It stars Kalki Koechlin as an Indian teenager with cerebral palsy who relocates to America for her undergraduate education and comes of age following her complex relationship with a blind girl, played by Sayani Gupta. Revathi, Kuljeet Singh, and William Moseley play supporting roles. Produced by Bose in partnership with Viacom18 Motion Pictures, Margarita with a Straw was co-written by Bose and Nilesh Maniyar. The film deals with the challenging concepts of sexuality, inclusion, self-love, and self-acceptance.

Produced by Priti Gupta and Manish Mundra under the banner of Ishka Films and Drishyam Films respectively, the film was co-written by Menon and James Ruzicka, and stars Naseeruddin Shah and Kalki Koechlin. Waiting focuses on the relationship between two people from different walks of life who befriend each other in a hospital, while nursing their respective comatose spouses. Rajat Kapoor, Suhasini Maniratnam, Arjun Mathur, Ratnabali Bhattacharjee and Rajeev Ravindranathan play supporting roles in the film.
Dear Zindagi is a 2016 Indian Hindi-language coming-of-age comedy drama film written and directed by Gauri Shinde.
