Aon Abbas is a Pakistani politician who is serving as member of the Senate of Pakistan from the Punjab Province since March 2021. He was the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on E-commerce from November 2021 till April 2022. He belongs to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. [1] [2]
He was elected to the Senate of Pakistan on a general seat from Punjab as a candidate of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in the 2021 Pakistani Senate election.
On 4 June 2022,he was appointed as the President of the PTI's South Punjab chapter by Imran Khan,the chairman of the party. [3]
In August 2023,he left PTI and presidency of PTI's South Punjab chapter because of May 9 riots and condemned the involvement of his party in the violence. [4]
Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar is a Pakistani and former British politician who served as the 31st and 33rd Governor of Punjab,from 2013 to 2015 and from 2018 to 2022. In his first term,he represented the Pakistan Muslim League (N). In his second term,he represented the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. He was a member of the Senate of Pakistan from March 2018 until September 2018. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf is a political party in Pakistan established in 1996 by Pakistani cricketer and politician Imran Khan,who served as the country's prime minister from 2018 to 2022. Mian Mehmood ur Rashid is a Pakistani politician from Lahore who was the Provincial Minister of Punjab for Housing,Urban Development and Public Health Engineering,in office from 27 August 2018 till 28 March 2022. Omar Sarfraz Cheema is a Pakistani politician who has been a founding member of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). He served as the Governor of Punjab for a little over a month,from 3 April 2022 till 10 May 2022 amidst the 2022 Constitutional crisis in Punjab,Pakistan. On advice of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif he was removed as Governor and ceased to hold office on 10 May 2024. Cheema was replaced by Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman on 30 May 2022,despite resistance from the President of Pakistan,Arif Alvi. Alvi conceded and approved the replacement of Cheema. He has been held in prison since 2023 in alleged relation to the May 9 riots and has been incarcerated while being denied proper facilities while imprisoned.
General elections were held in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday,25 July 2018 to elect the 51 members of 15th National Assembly from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) obtained a landslide victory in the province by winning 37 general seats and increased their margin of victory from 2013. The PTI also won 8 out of 10 reserved seats while the Pakistan Muslim League (N) (PML-N) and Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) won 1 reserved seat each.
