Apollos University, headquartered in Great Falls, Montana, is an accredited, American, privately-owned distance education university. [1] The university offers Doctoral, Master's, Bachelor's and Associate's degree programs in Business Administration, Management and Information Technology. Apollos University is an academic institution of higher learning and is accredited by the Distance Education Accreditation Commission (DEAC) [2] in the United States. Apollos University is also a member of SARA [3] (State Authorization and Reciprocity Agreement) [4] and approved to teach students in all 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia.

Apollos University's programs are offered worldwide through an online, distance learning methodology. The university has students throughout the United States and Canada, as well as in Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. The university’s programs are built on a foundation of knowledge transfer, application of knowledge, critical thinking, and research skills.

History

The university was founded in August 2004 as a non-profit university. [5] However, it closed the non-profit corporation and reopened as a for-profit corporation in May, 2005. [6] The new corporation was named Apollos University of California with a "doing business as" name of Apollos University. Formerly headquartered in Huntington Beach, California, [7] Apollos University moved to Great Falls, Montana, on September 30, 2016. [8] and is incorporated and approved as a private institution by the State of Montana.

Apollos University received its approval from the California Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education (BPPVE) [9] in July 2005 and enrolled its first student in September 2005. The university held its first graduation ceremony in July 2007. [10] Apollos applied for accreditation in 2010 and received accreditation status in January 2012 from Distance Education and Training Council (DETC) which is now known as the Distance Education Accreditation Commission (DEAC). [11] In 2020, DEAC renewed Apollos University's accreditation. [12]

Accreditation

Apollos University is an approved as a private institution by the State of Montana [13] and is an accredited member of the Distance Education Accrediting Commission(DEAC) [14] formally the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC). The DEAC [15] is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE) [16] and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). [17]

Apollos University is listed on the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and listing of accredited universities in United States. [18] Apollos University is also listed on The World Higher Education Database (WHED) [19] and International Association of Universities (IAU) [20] Worldwide Database of Higher Education Institutions, Systems and Credentials.

The Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC), formerly the National Home Study Council and then as the Distance Education and Training Council, is a non-profit national educational accreditation agency in the United States specializing in the accreditation of for-profit and non-profit distance education programs of study and institutions. The U.S. Department of Education identifies DEAC to be among the recognized institutional accrediting agencies in the U.S. that operate as reliable authorities concerning the quality of education offered by the institutions of higher education they accredit.

William Howard Taft University

California Southern University is a private, for-profit, university in Costa Mesa, California. It offers associate's, bachelor's, master's and doctoral degree programs online in psychology, business and management, risk management and regulatory compliance, criminal justice, nursing, and education.

University of Management and Technology (Virginia) Private university in the United States

The University of Management and Technology (UMT) is a private for-profit university in Arlington, Virginia. The university was founded in 1998 and offers accredited undergraduate and graduate degrees, including associate, bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees as well as certificate programs. U.S. Career Institute (USCI) is a private, accredited distance learning, educational institution based in Fort Collins, Colorado.

The University of Atlanta was a private for-profit distance education headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. The school opened in Mobile, Alabama as Barrington University and functioned as a diploma mill until it received accreditation in 2012. It relocated to Atlanta in 2008 and changed to University of Atlanta and was authorized by the State of Georgia's Nonpublic Post Secondary Education Commission.
