AppAssure was a backup and recovery software company founded in 2006 and based in Reston, Virginia. [1]
It was purchased by Dell in 2012. It has since been subsumed by Quest Rapid Recovery. [2] [1]
AppAssure was founded by Najaf Husain in 2006. [3] In 2008, AppAssure Software received a "Series A" investment by Bain Capital Ventures. [4]
On Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, Dell announced the acquisition of AppAssure, renaming it to Dell AppAssure, [1] which became a part of the Dell Software Group portfolio. [5] Later, upon a new major version release, the company renamed the AppAssure product to Rapid Recovery. [6]
On November 1, 2016, Francisco Partners and Elliot Management acquired Dell Software Group, [7] which was re-launched as Quest Software. [8] Rapid Recovery is currently part of the Quest Software portfolio. [9]
