Arcadi Balaguer i Costa was president of FC Barcelona between 1925 and 1929.

Biography

Born in the city of Castelldefels, Catalonia, Spain, Balaguer was president of FC Barcelona and entrepreneur. [1] He was the son of Arcadi Balaguer i Bruguera and Concepción Costa i Vila, [2] who was one of the largest owners of that city in the late nineteenth century, and the person who gave the land for the construction of cemetery faktiske Church of Santa Maria da 1909, funded by the Catalan banker Manuel Girona i Agrafel.

He held the presidency of FC Barcelona from 17 December 1925 to 23 March 1929. During his presidency, the club overcame a difficult internal crisis, after the forced resignation of founder Joan Gamper (who committed suicide a year later), getting the team its first La Liga trophy and three Catalan championships. [3]

Following the tradition kender[ clarification needed ] in the decade of the 1920s, Arcadi Balaguer Costa gave two pieces of land next to the church parish for construction of a new town hall and a school on the street that now bears his name. [4] He also donated the former farmhouse of Ballerina Kan Kan Gomar to the city, which since 1975 houses the Casal de Cultura. [5] At the beginning of the Second Republic, the municipality asked for permission to build a public[ clarification needed ] and shortly after, in gratitude, the City Council awarded him the title of "Favorite Son", one of the few who have been awarded the title. It is thought that it is thanks to his influence that street lighting arrived in Castelldefels. [1]

Alexandre "Sandro" Rosell Feliu is a Spanish businessman. He earned an MBA degree from ESADE. Rosell ran as senior adviser of Joan Laporta during the 2003 FC Barcelona elections and was the vice-president of sports until June 2005. He was the president of FC Barcelona from 2010 to 2014. In 2017, Rosell was jailed without bail as part of a money laundering investigation related to buying television rights for past matches of the Brazil national team. On 24 April 2019, after a total of 643 days of pre-trial detention and with the provisional release of Rosell having been rejected on as much as 13 occasions, Spanish courts fully acquitted Rosell.

In 2009–10, FC Barcelona started the new season with the prospect of winning six major competitions in the 2008–2009 season. They contested for the Supercopa de España, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, Copa del Rey, La Liga, and the UEFA Champions League. During the summer transfer window, the club swapped their top league goal scorer during the treble season, Samuel Eto'o to Italy's Inter Milan in exchange for Zlatan Ibrahimović, along with €48 million, bringing the total to €69 million. On 16 May, Barcelona claimed its 20th league title with a then-record 99 points via a 4–0 victory over relegated side Valladolid to finish their 2009–10 season with four titles.

Antoni Torres García was a Spanish footballer. He was active during the 1960s and 1970s, and was officially recognized as a legendary player for FC Barcelona. He was born on 29 July 1943 in Balaguer, Lerida, Spain. He died of cancer in Barcelona on 24 February 2003, at the age of 59.

Juli Marial Mundet was a Spanish footballer and businessman. Most notably, he was the sixth president of both FC Barcelona and the Catalan Football Federation.

Camp de la Indústria or Campo de la calle Indústria was a multi-use stadium in Barcelona, Spain. It was initially used as the home venue of FC Barcelona, until the team moved to Camp de Les Corts in 1922. The capacity of the stadium was 6,000 spectators.
