Archery Using a bow to shoot arrows

Archery is the sport, practice, or skill of using a bow to shoot arrows. The word comes from the Latin arcus, meaning bow. Historically, archery has been used for hunting and combat. In modern times, it is mainly a competitive sport and recreational activity. A person who practices archery is typically called an archer, bowman or toxophilite.

The 1995 Pan American Games were held in Mar del Plata, Argentina, from March 12 to March 26, 1995. After 44 years, this was the Pan American Games first return to the country that hosted the first Games, in 1951.

Limba Ram is an Indian archer who represented India in international competitions, including three Olympics. He equalled an archery world record in 1992 at the Asian Archery Championships in Beijing. He was awarded the Padma Shri Award in 2012.

Pool is an album by John Zorn featuring his early "game piece" composition of the same name which was first released on vinyl on Parachute Records in 1980 as a double album including the composition "Hockey". Bombayla Devi Laishram Indian archer

Bombayla Devi Laishram is an Indian archer. A member of the national recurve team representing India at the international events since 2007, she has won a silver medal at the World Archery Championships, and four gold, five silver, and four bronze medals at various editions of the Archery World Cup. Laishram peaked at no. 14 in the world rankings in March 2009.

Mounted archery Using a bow and arrow while riding from horseback

A horse archer is a cavalryman armed with a bow and able to shoot while riding from horseback. Archery has occasionally been used from the backs of other riding animals. In large open areas, it was a highly successful technique for hunting, for protecting the herds, and for war. It was a defining characteristic of the Eurasian nomads during antiquity and the medieval period, as well as the Iranian peoples, and Indians in antiquity, and by the Hungarians, Mongols, Chinese, and the Turkic peoples during the Middle Ages. By the expansion of these peoples, the practice also spread to Eastern Europe, Mesopotamia, and East Asia. In East Asia, horse archery came to be particularly honored in the samurai tradition of Japan, where horse archery is called Yabusame.

The World Archery Championships are a series of competitions in Archery organised by the World Archery Federation (WA). The first competition held under that title took place in 1931.

The 1995 World Figure Skating Championships were held in Birmingham, UK on 7–12 March. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing.

Para-archery classification

Para-archery classification is the classification system for para-archery used to create a level playing field for archers with a different range of disabilities. Governance in the sport is through the International Archery Federation. Early classification systems for the game to have and were created during the 1940s and based on medical classification. This has subsequently changed to a functional mobility classification with the exception of blind archery.

The 1995 World Archery Championships was the 38th edition of the event. It was held in Jakarta, Indonesia on 1–6 August 1995 and was organised by World Archery Federation (FITA).

Archery at the 2020 Summer Olympics

The archery events at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo took place in Yumenoshima Park. Five events were planned with a mixed team event staged for the first time.

Sara López Colombian archer

Sara José López Bueno, is a Colombian athlete who competes in compound archery. She first competed for the Colombian national team in 2011 Pre-Olympic event in Medellin, Colombia. In both 2017 and 2013, she won medals at the 2013 World Games in Colombia and 2017 World Games in Poland. At the FITA Archery World Cup in 2013, she qualified for the final. She rose to her highest world ranking of 3 in 2013, and her major achievements include winning the 2014 Archery World Cup. As well as competing internationally in archery, she is a medical student.

Sjef van den Berg Dutch archer

Sjef van den Berg is a retired Dutch competitive archer. He has won a total of two medals at the 2015 European Games, and eventually finished fourth in the men's individual archery at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Van der Berg currently trains at HBV Ontspanning in Sint-Oedenrode, under the tutelage of his coach Ron van der Hoff, a former Olympian at the Athens 2004 edition.

Anastasia Vladyslavivna Pavlova is a Ukrainian competitive archer. She has collected a career total of at least ten medals in major international competitions, spanning the World Indoor Championships, the European Games, the World Cup series, and the European Championships.

Faye Barbara L. Johnstone is a former archer from New Zealand. She represented New Zealand at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain.

Ruth E. Rowe is an American former archer and has also coached the sport.

Lindsay Anne Langston is an American archer. She competed in the women's individual and team events at the 1996 Summer Olympics.
