In Argentina

The genre was first introduced in the country in 1994 by Perdona nuestros pecados , a comedy by Raúl Portal. The program highlighted the mistakes and faulty productions seen in other programs. The genre was later picked up by talk shows, that air a portion of an event that took place at some other program, which is then discussed by the people in the studios. Other programs do not employ debate, and work instead as news programs of the events that took place in the television itself. [1]

News program regularly scheduled radio or television program

A news program, news programme, news show, or newscast is a regularly scheduled radio or television program that reports current events. News is typically reported in a series of individual stories that are presented by one or more anchors. A news program can include live or recorded interviews by field reporters, expert opinions, opinion poll results, and occasional editorial content.

Political programs such as Intratables use a similar format to the talk shows, but focused on politics-related events. Others like 6, 7, 8 and Televisión Registrada highlight contradictions between modern events and things that the involved politicians may have said in the past; this use was criticized because it usually forced seemed contradictions by using phrases from out of context for shocking value. 6, 7, 8 television series

Six in the Seven at Eight, usually called 6, 7, 8, was an Argentine political commentary TV program broadcast by the government-run Channel 7 since 2009. Its name comes from the fact that, when it first started airing, there were five members on the show's panel, and its motto was you are the sixth one. Since it was broadcast by Channel 7 at 8 p.m., the name was shortened to "6, 7, 8". In late 2009, the program was moved to 9 p.m., a new segment was added to be aired on Sundays at night, and new guest panelists were invited, making it more than six members. Nevertheless, the show's name remained unchanged.

Televisión Registrada, also known as TVR, was a TV show produced by Diego Gvirtz's company Pensado para Televisión. The show debuted on June 5, 1999 on America TV and was hosted by humorists Fabian Gianola and Claudio Morgado for seven years.

Other countries

The genre has little use outside of Argentina. Spain has the TV programs I love TV and Zapping de surferos . The Chilean laws would not allow this genre, as the content generated by other TV channels can only be re-aired with authorization. Mexico, with a high number of telenovelas and fiction programs, airs programs with summaries of the most important events of the week at their respective episodes. There are no programs in the US television, as they would likely be rejected by the US audiences. [2]

A telenovela is a type of limited-run television serial drama or soap opera produced primarily in Latin America. The word combines tele, short for televisión or televisão, and novela, a Spanish and Portuguese word for "novel". Similar genres around the world include teleserye (Philippines), téléroman, or simply dramas. In Spain, they are also called culebrones because of the convoluted plots.
