Arena Animation is the Animation & Multimedia education arm of Aptech Ltd. Over the past 23 years, Arena Animation has trained more than 450,000 students. [1] The company is headquartered in Mumbai, India and has education centres in over 20 countries around the world.

Arena Animation offers job-oriented courses in Animation, Multimedia, Web designing, VFX, and Gaming. The curriculum includes practical training in animation & multimedia studios, industry visits, workshops, regular projects, and creation of a professional work portfolio.

Annual Events

Orbit Live

Every year, Arena Animation organises Orbit Live, [2] a four-day media & entertainment industry event for students & professionals in the animation, VFX, gaming, and web & graphics space. The event starts with an inaugural ceremony that is attended by industry professionals from Hollywood & Bollywood.

Orbit Live comprises hands-on workshops, seminars, master classes & student-expert interactive sessions. In the past, Orbit Live has featured learning sessions conducted by animation & VFX experts [3] including Max Howard (president & CEO of Melwood Pictures), Tayah Howard (actress & producer), Damian Perea (film producer & director, Animayo International Film Festival [4] ), Penny Holton (senior lecturer, Teesside University), Dr. Paul Noble (senior lecturer, Teesside University), Prof. Ulrich Wegenast (managing director, programme, ITFS Festival, Rafael Zabala (lead modeller, Psyop Productions), and Raul Garcia (CEO, Melon Digital S.L. & director - producer, R&R Communications Inc).

The event concludes with the Awards Night, recognising the best work & top talent of the year. Carnivals, dinner soirees and talent contests are also a part of the event.

Creative Minds

Creative Minds is an inter-centre student competition, where students produce films under the guidance & mentorship of their faculty. These films are judged by industry experts. [5]

Awards

The education provider has won several awards including Maharashtra State IT Award 2007, [6] Franchise Growth Driver of the Year Award 2007, [7] and Indian Express Marketing Excellence Award for Brand Excellence in IT.

The Indian Animation Industry encompasses traditional 2D animation, 3D animation and visual effects for feature films. In 1956, Disney Studios animator Clair Weeks, who had worked on Bambi, was invited to Films Division of India in Mumbai to establish and train the country's first animation studio as part of the American technical co-operation mission. He trained a core group of Indian animators, whose first production was a film called The Banyan Deer (1957). Veteran animator Ram Mohan started his career at Films Division's Cartoon Unit.

Method Studios Visual effects studio

Method Studios is a visual effects company launched in 1999 in Los Angeles, California with facilities in New York, Atlanta, Vancouver, San Francisco, Melbourne, Montreal, and Pune. The company provides production and post-production services including conceptual design, look development, on-set supervision, 3D animation/CGI, matte painting, AR/VR, compositing and finishing.

Terrence Masson

Terrence Masson is Chair of the MFA Computer Arts Department at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. He was also founder and CEO of Building Conversation, an augmented reality company located in Boston, MA. He was both the ACM SIGGRAPH 2006 Computer Animation Festival Chair and 2010 Conference Chair. He also wrote the widely acclaimed book "CG 101: A Computer Graphics Industry Reference".


Prateek Mathur, also known as Alroy Jovi is an Indian animator, visual effects supervisor, CGI/VR project manager, and director working primarily in digital mixed media and the entertainment industry, from music videos and documentaries to short films and blockbusters. He is best known as the founder, creator, and author of the Axtelera Ray fantasy series.

Rohit Gupta American film director

Rohit Guptapronounced [ˈroːɦɪt̪ ɡuːptə] is a film director, film producer and entrepreneur who resides in the United States. He is known for directing Midnight Delight, Life! Camera Action..., Another Day Another Life, winning several awards & nominations. Gupta is the founder and owner of Dot and Feather Entertainment production company, Film Festivals To Go (FFTG), and FFTG Awards Film Fest.

Mayur Puri is an Indian screenwriter, lyricist, actor and film-maker working in Mumbai. He wrote songs, screenplays and dialogue for several movies, including Om Shanti Om (2007) starring Shahrukh Khan directed by Farah Khan, where Mayur also did a cameo appearance. He wrote dialogue for the Farah Khan film Happy New Year (2014). On 17 November 2014 Library of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences selected the screenplay of Happy New Year for its permanent Core Collection.

Tapas Relia is an Indian music composer and producer, known for his famous advertising campaigns for brands like Close-Up (toothpaste), Domino's Pizza, Amaron Batteries, IPL and Mahabharat. In Mumbai since 1996, he has also scored music for Bollywood films, including India's first major commercial animation film Hanuman and the recently released film Lakshmi, a film on child trafficking by acclaimed director Nagesh Kukunoor. Based in Mumbai, he works and operates from his own recording studio.

Merzin Tavaria is the Chief Creative Director and Co-founder of Prime Focus. He has been associated with the company since its inception and works in collaboration with the UK, US, Canada and India studios of Prime Focus.

<i>Shri Hanuman Chalisa</i>

Shri Hanuman Chalisa is a 2013 Indian computer animated short film rendition of Hanuman Chalisa produced by Charuvi Design Labs and directed by Charuvi Agrawal. It is based on Hanuman Chalisa originally composed by poet Tulsidas. It won the Best Animation Film award the Jaipur Film Fest.

Leo Baker is a writer and film director. Leo was the sole animator of the 2011 Oscar Award winning short animation The Lost Thing. Between 2013 and 2016 Leo co-directed a feature documentary film The Will To Fly about the life and sport career of Olympic freestyle aerial skier Lydia Lassila.

The Animation Masters Summit (AMS) is an animation industry conference organized every year by Toonz Animation in India. The event brings together animation experts from across the world to discuss trends in the animation industry. The event venue is in Trivandrum, the capital city of Kerala in India. The speakers, known as 'masters' of the event, share their expertise and experiences with animation professionals and aspiring young talent. The event happens during April/May every year, from 1999. The event is a cross-section of mastery in animation, visual effects and the media industry.

Olivier Staphylas is a French animator, best known for his work at DreamWorks Animation and for his award-winning student film, Le Building. He joined DreamWorks in 2006 and, within a few years, attained the role of supervising animator on How to Train Your Dragon. His work on 2011's Puss in Boots, supervising the titular character's animation, earned him nominations for an Annie Award and a Visual Effects Society Award. He then served as head of character animation on Penguins of Madagascar. Starting in 2014, he served in that position at Oriental DreamWorks.

FICCI Frames

FICCI Frames is an international convention of the Indian film industry, formerly chaired by Yash Chopra and co-chaired by Karan Johar. The convention is organised by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI).
