Ari Borovoy (born May 29, 1979, in Mexico City) is a founding member of the Latin music children's group La Onda Vaselina which evolved into the successful Latin pop group OV7. As a songwriter, he had a hand in creating several of the group's biggest hits, including "Aum Aum," "Shake Shake," "Te Necesito" and "No Me Voy." [1] He has also recorded solo albums, starred on telenovelas and in films.
OV7 disbanded in 2003 and the OV7 brand remained inactive until Borovoy and five members reunited in 2010. [2] During the interim, Borovoy launched a solo career, starting with an acting role on the Televisa telenovela Clap... El Lugar De Tus Sueños . His first solo album, Ari Borovoy , appeared in 2005, with the single "Booming" emerging as a hit. [3] Borovoy had a hand in writing nine of the album's tracks. [4]
Borovoy's second solo album, Pasajero, was released in 2008. The disc was issued under Borovoy's own label, BoBo Producciones, and he produced the album and wrote five songs. The first single was titled "Vivo" [5]
Borovoy's father is Mexican while his mother is Costa Rican. [5] He has two siblings, Jack and Denise. [5] He is also Debi Nova's cousin.
On December 4, 2010, he married Arlett Kalach in a civil ceremony in Mexico City; on January 15, 2011, the two renewed their vows in a Jewish ceremony. [5] [6]
In October 2012, Borovoy announced that the couple was expecting their first child. [7] The baby is due in April.

OV7, formerly known as La Onda Vaselina, was a Mexican Latin pop group formed in 1989, but it was not until the early 1990s that Onda Vaselina would begin to make their impact. La Onda Vaselina was formed with the members being children, but it was not until after they separated and reunited again in the late 1990s that they changed to "OV7" but then as adults. With a career spanning more than 30 years and several hits in the Latin American markets, OV7 remains as one of the most successful acts in Latin pop history. "OV7 " was the title used for the remaining band members since when they reunited in the late '90s, there were only seven of them in the group, hence the "7" in OV7. The reason for that title (OV7) was because due to legal rights of the "La Onda Vaselina" title, they could not use it as they were reuniting the group but not with all the other members.
