Arjun Menon (born c. 1977) is a Singaporean cricket coach and former player. He represented the Singapore national cricket team and has coached a number of teams at international level, including Chile, Botswana, Malawi, Indonesia, and Singapore.

Playing career

Menon began playing cricket at Saint Patrick's School, Singapore. He represented Singapore at youth level as a wicket-keeper and made his senior debut against United Arab Emirates in Malaysia. He made five senior appearances for Singapore. [1] He discontinued his international career in 1999 when he moved to Australia to attend university. [2]

Coaching career

Menon was appointed head coach of Chile in the lead-up to the team's inaugural ICC tournament appearance at the 2006 World Cricket League Americas Division Three. [3] In 2010 he was appointed head coach of Botswana, [2] a position he held until 2013. [4] Menon later coached Indonesia at the 2014 ICC East Asia-Pacific Men's Championship. [5]

Menon held various roles with the Singapore Cricket Association from 2015 to 2020, coaching Singapore to a gold medal in T20 cricket at the 2017 Southeast Asian Games. [1] In 2020 he returned to Malawi as operations manager of Cricket Malawi on a three-year contract, shortly after the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in Malawi. [6] He coached Malawi at the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Africa Sub-regional Qualifier A. [7]

Vinoo Balakrishnan is a Botswana cricketer. In May 2019, he was named in Botswana's squad for the Regional Finals of the 2018–19 ICC T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier tournament in Uganda. He made his Twenty20 International (T20I) debut for Botswana against Uganda on 20 May 2019. He was the leading run-scorer for Botswana in the Regional Finals, with 63 runs in three matches.

The 2022 ACA Africa T20 Cup was a cricket tournament played in Benoni, Gauteng, South Africa. The finals tournament was originally scheduled to be held in September 2019, but was moved to March 2020, with the original host city being Nairobi, Kenya. On 9 March 2020, the tournament was postponed again due to the COVID-19 pandemic, in line with the Kenyan government's 30-day ban on international gatherings. The tournament was eventually rescheduled for September 2022.
