Janata Dal (United) ("People’s Party (United)"),abbreviated as JD(U),is an Indian political party with political presence mainly in eastern and north-eastern India. JD(U) is recognised as a state party in the states of Bihar,Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur and is a part of government in Bihar. JD(U) heads the government in Bihar and has remained the second largest party in Manipur. JD(U) won 16 seats in the 2019 Indian general election,making it the seventh largest party in the Lok Sabha.

The Mallaah are the traditional boatmen and fishermen tribes or communities of North India,East India,Northeastern India and Pakistan. A significant number of Mallah are also found in Nepal and Bangladesh. In the Indian state of Bihar,the term Nishad includes the Mallah and refers to communities whose traditional occupation centred on rivers.

Gavai was a 30-year member (MLC) of the Maharashtra Legislative Council during which he served on the posts of the chairman,the deputy chairman,and the Opposition leader of the council.

Vikassheel Insaan Party is an Indian political party,formally launched on November 4,2018,by a Bollywood set designer Mukesh Sahani,who campaigned for the Bharatiya Janata Party during the 2015 Bihar Legislative Assembly election. They contested in three Lok Sabha constituencies in 2019 from Madhubani,Muzaffarpur and Khagaria but failed to win any seats. The support base for the party consists mainly of the Nishad,Nonia,Bind,Beldar community,which comprises 20 sub-castes of fisherman and boatmen.
Mukesh Sahani is an Indian politician from the Indian state of Bihar. He served as the Minister for Animal Husbandry &Fisheries in the Government of Bihar till 27 March 2022. He is the founder of the Vikassheel Insaan Party,a political party in Bihar. He previously worked as a Bollywood stage designer. Sahani is also owner of a company named 'Mukesh Cineworld Private Limited'.
Raju Kumar Singh is an Indian politician from Bihar and a Member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly. Singh won the Sahebganj Assembly constituency on the VIP ticket in the 2020 Bihar Legislative Assembly election. He recently defected from Vikassheel Insaan Party with the other two MLAs of the VIP and joined BJP. Raju Singh started his career in politics with Lok Jansakti Party.
