Arno Wallaard Memorial is a single-day bicycle road race held annually in the Dutch region of Alblasserwaard: prior to 2007, the race was called "Omloop Alblasserwaard". Since 2009, it is organized as a 1.2 event on the UCI Europe Tour.
The Drechtsteden are a number of towns and cities bordering each other in the delta area of the rivers Oude Maas, Noord, and Beneden-Merwede in the province of South Holland, Netherlands. The city of Rotterdam now occupies most of the northern part of the island and includes the eponymous former village of IJsselmonde, once a separate community. The island was once a rich agricultural region but is mostly suburbs today. Only the mid-south parts of the island have retained their agricultural character.

The former municipality had a population of 9,697 in 2004, and covered an area of 69.32 km2 of which 2.21 km2 was water. Since 2013 Graafstroom had been a part of the new municipality of Molenwaard.

The Land of Heusden and Altena is a region located in the Dutch province of North Brabant. In 1904 it consisted of the historical regions Land van Altena and Land van Heusden. Historically this region has been a part of North Brabant since 1815. During the Dutch Republic it belonged to Holland. It resembles comparable landscapes in the latter one, like e.g. the Alblasserwaard, which is situated just north of the region.
The Kinderdijk windmills are a group of 19 monumental windmills in the Alblasserwaard polder, in the province of South Holland, Netherlands. Most of the mills are part of the village of Kinderdijk in the municipality of Molenlanden, and one mill, De Blokker, is part of the municipality of Alblasserdam. Built in 1738 and 1740, to keep water out of the polder, it is the largest concentration of old windmills in the Netherlands and one of the best-known Dutch tourist sites. The mills are listed as national monuments and the entire area is a protected village view since 1993. They have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997, and as such are officially named as the Mill Network at Kinderdijk-Elshout.
Arno Wallaard was a Dutch cyclist. He died on 28 February 2006, after feeling sick coming home from training. The cycling race Omloop Alblasserwaard, which Wallaard won in 1999, was renamed the Arno Wallaard Memorial in honor of him.
