Arsalan Taj Hussain,also known as Arsalan Taj Ghumman,is a Pakistani politician who had been a member of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh from August 2018 to August 2023. [2]
He was elected to the Provincial Assembly of Sindh as a candidate of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf from Constituency PS-102 (Karachi East-IV) in 2018 Pakistani general election. [3]
In March 2023,Arsalan Taj was picked up by policemen from his residence. [4] He was later produced in the court after 24 hours. He was booked in couple of FIRs as claimed by the Sindh Government. [5] He was sent on physical remand as requested by the Sindh Police in the court. [6] Chairman PTI and Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Mr. Imran Khan also criticised the arrest of Arsalan Taj in a tweet. [7] Arsalan Taj was granted bail by the ATC court on 22 March 2023. [8]
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf is a political party in Pakistan established in 1996 by Pakistani cricketer and politician Imran Khan,who served as the country's prime minister from 2018 to 2022. Alvi was a dentist before entering politics in 1979,when he joined Jamaat-e-Islami (Pakistan),but resigned later on from the party and then joined former cricketer Imran Khan's party in 1996 and is amongst the founding members of PTI.

General elections were held in Pakistan on 25 July 2018 to elect the members of the 15th National Assembly and the four Provincial Assemblies. The three major parties were Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI),led by Imran Khan,the Pakistan Muslim League,led by Shehbaz Sharif,and the Pakistan People's Party,led by Bilawal Bhutto. The PTI won the most seats in the National Assembly but fell short of a majority;the party subsequently formed a coalition government with several smaller parties. At the provincial level,the PTI remained the largest party in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP);the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) retained its dominance in Sindh;and the newly formed Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) emerged as the largest party in Balochistan. In Punjab,the result was a hung parliament,with the Pakistan Muslim League (N) winning the most seats. However,after several independent MPAs joined the PTI,the latter became the largest party and was able to form a government.

On 5 August 2023,the results of the 2023 digital census were approved by the Council of Common Interests headed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Therefore,elections have been delayed for several months,as new delimitations will be published on 14 December 2023,as announced by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). On 2 November 2023,the ECP announced,in agreement with the President of Pakistan,Arif Alvi,that the elections will be held on 8 February 2024. The election was held concurrently with nationwide general elections and other provincial elections.
