The Ashbourne Baseball Club is Ireland's largest baseball club. [1] It is located in Ashbourne, County Meath, and draws players from the surrounding area, including Dublin. The club was created in 2009 as the Garristown Gruffalos. The club competes in the Irish Baseball League and plays in the International Baseball Centre. [2]
The Ashbourne Baseball Club was formed as a Little League team (“Garristown Gruffalos") in 2009. In 2012, the club relocated to Ashbourne, County Meath to become the Ashbourne Giants.
The club competed solely as a little league club until 2014, when the club entered its first adult team in the B Division of the Irish Baseball League. In 2018, the club entered a second adult team in the A Division of the Irish Baseball League. In 2019, the club entered a second team in the B division, the Ashbourne Stags. In 2020, the club created its first adult coed slow pitch softball team, the Ashbourne Antlers.[ citation needed ]
In 2021, the team added a third B division team, the Titans and a second adult coed slow pitch team.[ citation needed ] 2021 also saw the creation of the Cadet Division (ages 12-15) in the Irish Baseball League.[ citation needed ] The club competed in the league as the Titans while fielding a second team in a joint effort with the Dublin City Hurricanes. The team was called the Warriors.[ citation needed ]
In 2024, the Ashbourne Titans and Ashbourne Giants were merged. [3] [ not specific enough to verify ] The team is due to play under the Titans name in 2024.[ citation needed ]
"Coach Pitch" is the club's youngest age group, for kids under 10. The Little League program is for kids aged 9–12. Players aged 12-15 participate in the club's "Cadet Baseball" program. [4]
The club has two teams in the B division of the Irish Baseball League, the Ashbourne Titans and Ashbourne Stags. The Ashbourne Titans are focused on youth development. The "Ashbourne Stags" team is the home of adult players of all abilities and experience levels. The "Ashbourne Giants A" division team is made up of the best players in the club and competes at the highest levels in the Irish Baseball League. [5]
The International Baseball Centre (IBC) is the home field of the Ashbourne Baseball Club. It opened in 2015. [6] The IBC is also the host field for the International Baseball Festival, an annual international baseball tournament held in Ashbourne. [7]
The IBC was the host field for the 2019 European Baseball Championship - Qualification, which was held in Ireland in 2018. [8] The field also hosted a U18 European Baseball Championship Qualifier in 2023, [9] and is due to host a European Baseball Championship Qualifier in 2024. [10]
The first baseball game in Ireland was held in Dublin in 1874, and it continues to be played by several teams including in the Irish Baseball League. Baseball Ireland is the governing body of baseball on the island of Ireland, covering both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
The Baseball European Champions Cup (BECC), formerly called the Champions Cup and European Cup, is an annual baseball tournament, sanctioned and created by WBSC Europe. The tournament features the top teams of the professional baseball leagues in Europe, and is the first tier of the four competitions organized by WBSC Europe, alongside the second-tier European Cup, third-tier Federation Cup, and fourth-tier Federation Cup Qualifiers, which operate with a promotion and relegation system for its federations.
Fingal Ravens is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Rolestown, County Dublin, Ireland. Fingal Ravens won the 2007 Dublin Intermediate Football Championship and are therefore in the Senior championship for 2008. The Senior team won the Dublin Intermediate Football Championship in 2007 and booked a place in the Leinster Intermediate Semi Final against Suncroft. The Senior team won the Lenister Intermediate Semi Final on Sunday 25 November 2007 against Suncroft of Kildare. They eventually went on to the final against neighbours and local rivals Donaghmore/Ashbourne. It proved an interesting game because the Fingal Ravens manager Mick Deegan was a resident of Ashbourne in County Meath. Ravens won the IFC title with a goal to spare in Parnell Park on Sunday 9 December 2007. Fingal then went on to the All-Ireland Intermediate Club Football Championship semi final against Ballinagh of Cavan. Ravens won the semi against Ballinagh by 0-11 to 0-08 to seal their place in the 2008 all-Ireland intermediate club final.
The British Baseball Federation (BBF) is the national governing body of baseball within the United Kingdom. Organised modern baseball has been played in the United Kingdom since the first baseball league began in 1890, with a succession of different governing bodies in place over that time. The BBF was founded in 1987.
The Ireland national baseball team has been in existence since 1996 and has taken part in several major baseball tournaments and tours. As in many other sports in Ireland, the team represents both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.

The World Baseball Softball Confederation Europe, known as WBSC Europe, was established on February 10, 2018, during a Congress of the Confederation of European Baseball and the European Softball Federation in Val d’Europe, France. the establishment of WBSC Europe followed the historic merger of the Confederation of European Baseball (CEB) and the European Softball Federation (ESF). As of September 2022, WBSC Europe counts 40 members for baseball and 39 for softball.
The Irish Baseball League (IBL) is the men's league in Ireland. It started play in 1997. The season runs from March to October and are played on the weekends.
The Lithuania national baseball team is the national baseball team of Lithuania. The team currently competes in the Pool B of the European Baseball Championship.
The Serbian national baseball team represents Serbia in international baseball competitions.
Ashbourne is a town in County Meath, Ireland. Located about 20 km north of Dublin and close to the M2 motorway, Ashbourne is a commuter town within Greater Dublin. In the 26 years between the 1996 and 2022 census, the town tripled in population from approximately 4,900 to 15,680 inhabitants. The town is passed by the Broad Meadow Water, which comes from Ratoath and Dunshaughlin.
The Coed Slowpitch European Championship is the main championship tournament between national coeducational slowpitch softball teams in Europe, governed by WBSC Europe. Prior to 2018 this tournament was governed by the European Softball Federation (ESF).

Nobber GFC is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Nobber, County Meath, Ireland. The club competes in Meath GAA competitions. The club has won the Meath Senior Football Championship once when North Meath GAA won the title in 1950. In 1983, 1986, and 1989 Nobber reached the semi-final of the Senior championship. The club currently competes at Senior level, after winning the Intermediate Championship in 2019, The Club also won the Intermediate Championship in 1980 and also in 2010.
Wild Geese are a GAA club based in Oldtown, Fingal. As of 2011, the club was fielding a single junior football, two junior hurling and previously a ladies football team. At juvenile level, they field at hurling only with teams at Under 9, 10, 12, 14 and 16.
The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) is the world governing body for the sports of baseball, softball, and Baseball5. It was established in 2013 by the merger of the International Baseball Federation (IBAF) and International Softball Federation (ISF). Under the WBSC's organizational structure, the IBAF and ISF now serve as the confederation's baseball and softball divisions, respectively. Each division is governed by an executive committee, while the WBSC is governed by an executive board.
The 1996 Meath Intermediate Football Championship is the 70th edition of the Meath GAA's premier club Gaelic football tournament for intermediate graded teams in County Meath, Ireland. The tournament consists of 17 teams. The championship starts with a group stage and then progresses to a knock out stage.
The International Baseball Centre (IBC) is the home field of the Ashbourne Baseball Club and the Irish National Baseball Team. It opened in 2015. It is Ireland's only international standard baseball diamond.
1. Baseball- und Softballclub Bonn Capitals e.V., commonly referred to as Bonn Capitals, is a German baseball and softball club from Bonn, North Rhine-Westphalia, founded on November 8, 1989. Its first men's team has been competing in the Baseball Bundesliga since 1994 and currently plays in its northern division, the Bundesliga Nord, after initially playing in the southern division until 1996. The women's softball team was promoted to the northern division of the Softball Bundesliga in 2018.
The Baseball5 World Cup is a mixed-gender Baseball5 (B5) world championship that occurs every two years, with the first edition held in 2022 in Mexico and contested by 12 countries. It is governed by the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC).
