Janata Dal (United) ("People’s Party (United)"), abbreviated as JD(U), is an Indian political party with political presence mainly in eastern and north-eastern India. JD(U) is recognised as a state party in the states of Bihar, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur and is a part of government in Bihar. JD(U) heads the government in Bihar and has remained the second largest party in Manipur. JD(U) won 16 seats in the 2019 Indian general election, making it the seventh largest party in the Lok Sabha.

Ritlal Yadav or Ritlal Ray is a leader of RJD who won the Bihar Legislative Council election in July 2015 as an independent candidate. Ritlal was in jail in connection with multiple criminal cases, including murder charges. Ritlal is accused in over 33 cases. He was a former Member of Legislative Council (MLC), the post, to which he was elected in 2016. He was incarcerated in Beur Jail until August 2020. However he was then released from the jail on bail. Ritlal Yadav defeated BJP's Asha Devi Sinha in the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections.

Ashok Yadav is a leader of the Rashtriya Janata Dal and a member of the Bihar Legislative Council from Nawada. He is a nephew of former member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly from Nawada constituency, Raj Ballabh Yadav. His term is 2022 to 2028.
The Eighth Nitish Kumar ministry is the Council of Ministers in Bihar Legislative Assembly headed by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. On August 9, 2022, he walked out of the BJP's NDA alliance and announced his resignation. He then decided to form a new government in Bihar along with the RJD and the Congress. Though Nitish Kumar from Janata Dal (United) is the Chief Minister of this government, Rashtriya Janata Dal is the largest party in this alliance.
Ashok Kumar better known as Ashok Kushwaha is a former Member of Bihar Legislative Assembly from the Sasaram Assembly constituency. He was a member of Rashtriya Janata Dal, and was able to win from this constituency in 2000 Bihar assembly elections as well as 2015 Bihar assembly elections. Kumar shifted his allegiance to Janata Dal (United) (JDU) in 2020 Bihar Legislative Assembly elections and was made a candidate of JDU from Sasaram constituency against Rajesh Kumar Gupta of Rashtriya Janata Dal. He was defeated in the polls of 2020. In 2015 assembly elections, Kumar had defeated Jawahar Prasad of Bhartiya Janata Party; latter was a five term Member of Legislative Assembly from the Sasaram constituency.
