History

The club was founded around the late 20th century.

Santo André became an official registered club and a member of the Santo Antão South Zone Regional Football Association (ARFZSSA) in 2008. They played their first match in 2009, and finished 8th place which was their lowest position and had only one win.

Santo André once formed one of two westernmost clubs in the whole of Africa (the mainland and the islands). It was the only club in the area until 2014 when Tarrafal FC de Monte Trigo based in the west started to compete.

The club did not participate in 2011 and later in 2013 due to financial problems but returned the following season. The club had no wins that season but three draws and points, though they conceded 21 goals which was ahead of Sporting Porto Novo. After the club did not participate the next two season. They finally returned for the 2016-17 season in November 12 with Os Sanjoanenses and lost 4-0. [1] As they tried to had a season with a moderate success as promised, instead, once again a winless season was repeated and was slightly worse than in 2014 and had only two draws and points. They did not played their final match of the season which was against Académica do Porto Novo and awarded against them 0-3, this was to avoid to conceded the most goals in the region, at that time, they conceded the most, at the end the season Sporting Porto Novo conceded 40 goals while Santo André conceded 39 and again second in the most goals conceded as well as a goal difference, again in three seasons, the club scored only six goals.

For about five or six seasons, the club had not a single win. Santo André may be the least successful and the worst club of the South Zone and probably one of the worst in Cape Verde. They are not as successful as one club who played their first competition in 2014 Tarrafal FC de Monte Trigo.

In other competitions, Santo André appeared for the first time in the Santo Antão Cup in December 6, 2016, they played only a first round match which was to Rosariense and lost 1-8 to that club which was the worst cup match on the island of the season.
