The Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church in the USA began to send missionaries to Mexico.
In the late 1870s a presbytery was formed. The official beginning of the denomination is in 1879. [1] The church is active in the Northeastern part of Mexico and in the capital city and Guadalajara. The church is now completely independent from the Associate Reformed Church USA. The denomination has more than 30,000 members [2] in more than 60 churches. [3] Currently there are 4 presbyteries, the Tamaulipas Presbytery. the Veracruz, San Luis Potosí and Las Huastecas Presbyteries. [4] [5] [6]

The Presbyterian Church of Africa was founded in 1898 by Rev. James Mzimba, who broke from the Church of Scotland. He was born in Ngquakai, and his father was a deacon in the Presbyterian Church. Mzimba become a pastor, and was ordained in 1875. He was sent to Scotland to the anniversary of the Free Church of Scotland, but later severed its ties with the denomination. In 1899 he founded his own independent Presbyterian church. He died in 1911. The first Synod was constituted in Alice, Cape Colony. Mzambi had a dispute with the Free Church of Scotland over land and over the use of money. The Presbyterian Church of Africa is a predominantly black church. It was a small group of churches with 2 presbyteries. The church grew steadily. It is one of the oldest independent churches in Africa.

The denomination is a fruit of the American Presbyterian church in Congo which started in 1891. The church suffered controversies and splits during the 1950s and 1960s. During this period the Presbyterian Community in Eastern Kasai, Presbyterian Community in Western Kasai and the Reformed Community of Presbyterians was formed.

The Presbyterian Church in Chile was founded on June 7, 1868 in the city of Santiago and was the first Protestant church in the country. The Chile mission was coordinated by Dr. Rev. David Trumbull and the United Presbyterian Church in the USA. On June 13, 1883 the first Presbytery was organised in Chile. It adopted the Constitution of the United Presbyterian Church in the USA. Till 1963 the church was dependent on the United Presbyterian Churches Synod of New York. With the creating of 3 more Presbyteries, the church become independent from the American Presbyterian church in January 1964.

The Presbyterian Church of Colombia was established by the US Presbyterian Churches. The first Presbyterian Missionary was Henry Barrington Pratt who came to Colombia in 1856, sent by the board of foreign missions of what is now called Presbyterian Church (USA). Congregations were established in the main areas, big cities, and the mission spread over a large part of the country. Presbyterian work progressed till 1936. In 1937 the Presbyterian Synod was formed. The church had 3 Presbyteries. Since 1982 it has its own theological Seminary.

It has 1,000 members and 12 congregations in 2004. The denomination subscribes the Apostles Creed, Athanasian Creed, Nicene Creed, Barmen Declaration, Heidelberg Catechism, Westminster Confession of Faith, Westminster Larger Catechism and Westminster Shorter Catechism. The Presbyterian Church of Venezuela is a Reformed denomination in Venezuela which began in 1897. Its confessions include the Apostles' Creed, Nicene Creed (381), Heidelberg Catechism (1563), Second Helvetic Confession (1562), Westminster Confession of Faith (1646/47) and Barmen Declaration (1934). In the 1970s it suffered difficult times, the church faced Pentecostalism. In 1983 the oldest and largest church split, but maintained the name Presbyterian it was the El Redentor church. In 1991 a Synod was organised with 2 Presbyteries, the Western and Central Presbyteries. In 2004 the denomination had 21 congregation, 8 house fellowships and almost 1,000 members.
The Presbyterian Church in Korea (ChanYang) was formed in 1987 by Pastor Park Jong-Hwa. Five Presbyteries were established and founded the denomination in El Bethel Church (ChangYang) in 1988. It has 13,748 members in 57 congregations and 8 Presbyteries and a General Assembly. The Apostles Creed and the Westminster Confession are the official standards. The Independent Presbyterian Church in Mexico was founded in 1984, due to tension between Mexican leaders and the Christian Reformed Church in North America missionaries. The majority decided to cooperate with the American missionaries, but 3 out of the 5 Presbyteries opted for independence. The Mexican government registered the Independent Presbyterian Church and also obtained the control of properties.
