Association of Chinese Schools

Association of Chinese Schools was founded by Prof. Peter P.C. Chou and six schools in Philadelphia in 1974. The goals are to provide a forum for Chinese language and culture schools to share their common interests, to exchange views and ideas, to assist school activities, to improve the quality of teaching, to promote Chinese teaching into the mainstream American education system. The Association of Chinese Schools is a non-profit, non-political independent organization. The organization was founded with 6 member schools and has grown to 56 member schools. The Association is a member of the Consortium for Language Teaching & Learning from the University of Maryland's National Foreign Language Center. [1]

Events, performances, and contests

The Association hosts events for its various member schools to compete and perform together. Events include speech competitions, [3] singing competitions, [4] history competitions, poster making competitions, and teaching seminars. [5]

<i>New Friend</i> 1927 film

New Friend was the first Singaporean film shot entirely in Singapore and Malaya. It was produced by Nanyang Low Pui-kim's Self-made Motion Picture Company (南洋劉貝錦自製影片公司), in association with Low Pui-kim, who served as the producer and Kwok Chiu-man (郭超文), who was both the director and cinematographer. The film production company originally planned to produce its second film production, silent movie "(行不得也哥哥)", however, as the film production company was closed on 10 May 1927, this film is pending.

The Washington Metropolitan Association of Chinese Schools (WMACS), is an organization of Chinese Language Schools in the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area. WMACS facilitates communication amongst its member schools and is a member association of the National Council of Associations of Chinese Language Schools. WMACS also sponsors teacher workshops and speech and calligraphy contests for students, and also hosts an annual field day and track meet for its member schools.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Yuet Wah College</span> School in Macau

Yuet Wah College, often referred to as Yuet Wah, is a Macau all-boys Catholic preschool through secondary school in São Lázaro, Macau. It was founded in 1925, making it one of the oldest secondary schools in Macau. It is accredited by the Salesians of Don Bosco.

Greater St. Louis has a Chinese community.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Washington DC Taiwanese School</span> Taiwanese American Cultural and Educational Non-Profit Organization

Washington DC Taiwanese School is a Taiwanese-American nonprofit organization that was established in 1983. The school offers classes on Sunday afternoons at Cabin John Middle School in Potomac, Maryland, with a curriculum focused on language learning, cultural immersion, and community engagement.

Tsai In-tang was an artist born in Xinpu, Hsinchu, Taiwan, known for his paintings. He was born into a prominent family in the area.
