Astonishing X-Men: Gambit is a 12-issue comic book series published by Marvel Comics between September 2004 and June 2005. Created by writer John Layman and artist Georges Jeanty, it is the second ongoing series (and the fourth overall) starring the popular X-Men character Remy LeBeau / Gambit, following the mutant thief as he runs afoul of every criminal and cutthroat in New Orleans, in particular his ex-wife Bella Donna Boudreaux.
In March 2019, the series was republished as Gambit: Thieves' World. [1]
The series collected as Astonishing X-Men: Gambit (and initially published as Gambit), which lasted 12 issues, ran from September 2004 to June 2005 (cover-dated August 2005), written by John Layman and drawn by Georges Jeanty. [2] In March 2019, the series was republished as a single omnibus edition under the new name Gambit: Thieves' World, also collecting material from material from X-Men Unlimited vol. 2 #3. [1]
Having left the X-Men, the mutant superhero Remy LeBeau returns to the exciting and treacherous terrain of the New Orleans underworld from whence he came, where his skills and mastery as a thief are unquestioned. However, when the dead leave their graves and overrun the streets of the city, Gambit is the only one who can save the city from a zombie apocalypse, while facing down two women, both heartbroken, angry, and demanding his head on a platter, and infiltrating the heavily-fortified home of his former team.
