Astro Farm is a British children's television series animated in stop motion. It featured the adventures of the Foxwoods, a small family who work on an asteroid which is covered in farmland.

Astro Farm was produced by FilmFair for Central Independent Television and was first broadcast on CITV in 1992.

Synopsis

The main action took place on an asteroid dedicated to farming. The Foxwoods lived in a small cottage with a barn and Daisy, the cow lived in a separate farm. The atmosphere was artificial and was controlled by the weather machine in the cottage. The Gorups lived on a nearby asteroid known as 'Gorp Dale' which was dark and wet.

The principal characters were Sam; Sam's wife Lizzie; Sam and Lizzie's son, Tom; Dinko, a dog; Daisy, the cow and blue chickens called Clucks; featuring the Gorups, Splodger and Biff, two miscreants who steal food and cause trouble at the farm.

Re-airings

The series was repeated on CITV until 1996 and then aired on Nickelodeon in 1997. Nickelodeon aired the first series as it was the only one to be remastered by CINAR, purchased FilmFair London and remastered the studio's shows.

Home media

In the United Kingdom, in 1992, Pickwick Video originally released two VHS tapes of the series, containing Series 1 episodes. Those were reissued in 1995 by Carlton Home Entertainment.

Grizzly Tales for Gruesome Kids is the generic trademarked title for a series of award-winning children's books by British author Jamie Rix which were later adapted into an animated television series of the same name produced for ITV. Known for its surreal black comedy and horror, the franchise was immensely popular with children and adults, and the cartoon became one of the most-watched programmes on CITV in the 2000s; a reboot of the cartoon series was produced for Nickelodeon UK and NickToons UK in 2011 with 26 episodes with the added tagline of Cautionary Tales for Lovers of Squeam!. The first four books in the series were published between 1990 and 2001 by a variety of publishers and have since gone out of print but are available as audio adaptations through Audible and iTunes. The Compuserve Comics and Animation Forum's Don Thompson Awards were given for achievement in comic books, comic strips, and animation. Initiated in 1992, they were originally known as the Compuserve Comics and Animation Forum Awards for the CompuServe forum that created and gave out the award. Grizzly Tales for Gruesome Kids is a British animated horror television series based on the generic trademarked children's book series of the same name by Jamie Rix. After the first three books were published from 1990 to 1996, Carlton Television adapted the short stories into ten-minute cartoons for ITV, produced by themselves, Honeycomb Animation, and Rix's production company, Elephant Productions. It aired on CITV between January 2000 and October 2006 with six series and 78 episodes, as well as a New Year's Eve special that was over 20 minutes longer than other episodes. The series returned in a new format for Nicktoons with 26 episodes split into two series under the name Grizzly Tales, which aired between May 2011 and November 2012.
