At the Mercy of Inspiration was a heavy metal band from Toronto.
At the Mercy of Inspiration was formed in 2000 by Tom Piraino (bass), Jett Janczak (drums), vocalists Andre Zadorozny and guitarists Greg Gallagher and Scott Middleton. Piraino had previously played in Left Behind, SeventyEightDays, Dropping Bombs and Funerary. [1] [2] On December 27, 2000, they recorded a two-song demo cassette, Twolovesongsfortheroad. On May 11, 2001, they recorded a second two-song demo, The Fatality of Beauty.
Gallagher and Piraino then left the band; Piraino went on to join the band Cursed. Bassist Terry Clemente then joined. Gallagher was replaced by guitarist Jesse O'Hara. Clemente then left and was replaced by bassist Mario Bozza. In 2002, they released the seven-song EP A Perfect Way to Kill an Evening. [3]
The band played live in Ontario and Quebec with The End and A Day and a Deathwish, [4] [5] [6] and toured eastern Canada with Alexisonfire, Hollow and Jersey. [7] [8] In 2004, Bozza was replaced by former Jude the Obscure bassist Chuck Leach. [4] They released the four-song EP Gone Are the Days. [9] [10]
In late 2004, the band broke up. Scott Middleton then founded the band Cancer Bats. Leach would later join The Artist Life, while O'Hara played in the band Sun Satellite. [11]
Small Brown Bike is a band from Marshall, Michigan, United States that started in 1996. The trademark of Small Brown Bike is their "double vocals" backed by melodies. Their sound is often identified as being similar to other post-hardcore bands, such as Avail, Hot Water Music and Dillinger Four. Throughout their existence, Small Brown Bike have toured three times with Dead Season between 1999 and 2000 and once with Thoughts of Ionesco in 1999. Their last show was in 2004 at The Fireside Bowl in Chicago, after already agreeing to split up. Former members Mike Reed and Dan Jaquint later created the band LaSalle, with Reed's wife playing bass guitar. Ben Reed also started the Great Sea Serpents based out of Chicago, IL. Mike and Ben have also formed the band Able Baker Fox with former drummer Jeff Gensterblum and Nathan Ellis from the Casket Lottery. Their first album "Voices" was released in January 2008.
The Black Maria was a Canadian rock band from Toronto, named after the notorious vans used by police to transport prisoners in the early 20th century.
His Hero Is Gone was an influential American neo-crust band from Memphis, Tennessee. The band formed in 1995 from members of Copout, Man With Gun Lives Here, Union of Uranus and FaceDown. They disbanded in 1999, playing their last show in Memphis. They toured the U.S. extensively several times, as well as Europe and Japan.
Buried Alive is a hardcore punk band from Buffalo, New York that existed in the late 1990s and was signed to Victory Records. The band featured the now current singer of Terror, Scott Vogel, who had previously sang in Slugfest and Despair, and played drums in Cinderblock and Fadeaway.

After going through several lineup changes, the band eventually split up in 2003. After a seven-year break, four of the five founding members reformed the band in 2010.

Chokehold is a Canadian vegan straight edge hardcore punk band from Hamilton, Ontario. They were active from 1990 to 1996, and came together again for a reunion tour in 2015, and five dates in Japan in September 2016. They released their third album in 2019.

Morning Again is an American metalcore band from Florida. They were known for their metallic sound as well as for their straight edge, vegan, anti-religious and anti-government ideals. The band was a "sister band" to Culture, often switching members after one had left the other. Several members went on to play in other bands such as As Friends Rust and Dead Blue Sky. The band was originally from Cooper City, Florida, but moved to Coral Springs in 1998 before breaking up later that year. After playing several reunion shows over the years, the band released a new EP in 2018.

Mare were a Canadian band from Toronto, who fused sludge metal with more experimental traits such as jazz, unusual time signatures and Gregorian chant. Mare, consisted of Tyler Semrick-Palmateer on vocals and guitar, Rob Shortil on bass, and Caleb Collins on drums. The band recorded and released several demos, one of which was re-issued by Hydra Head Records in 2004 as an EP. They also contributed a cover of the track "Night Goat" on the We Reach: The Music of the Melvins compilation.

The original line-up recorded a demo tape in November 1996, but failing to secure a record deal, the band parted ways in February 1997. After reforming later that same year, but with a new line-up, the band recorded one new song and combined it with some of the demo's songs to create its debut EP, The Fists of Time, for Belgium's Good Life Recordings in July 1998. In December 1998, As Friends Rust released a split with Discount, also on Good Life.

Once established in Quebec, the band was expanded with two more guitarists, Nidal Mourad and Adam Kennedy, but they departed before the recording of the group's third output.
