The politics of Nepal functions within the framework of a parliamentary republic with a multi-party system. Executive power is exercised by the Prime Minister and their cabinet, while legislative power is vested in the Parliament.
The Nepali Congress is a democratic socialist political party in Nepal and the largest party in the country. The party has 870,106 members as of the party's 14th general convention in December 2021 making them the largest party by membership in Nepal. Currently the party has started online membership since the emergence of youth leaders in vital post to bring youths into the party.
The National Assembly or Rastriya Sabha is the upper house of the Federal Parliament of Nepal, the lower house being the House of Representatives. The composition and powers of the Assembly are established by Part 8 and 9 of the Constitution of Nepal. There are a total of 59 members: 8 members are elected from each of the seven provinces by an electoral college of each province, and three are appointed by the President on recommendation of the government.
Constituent Assembly elections were held in Nepal on 10 April 2008, having been postponed from earlier dates of 7 June 2007 and 22 November 2007. The Constituent Assembly was planned to draft a new constitution and therefore decide, amongst other things, on the issue of federalism. The number of eligible voters was around 17.5 million. The Constituent Assembly was originally set to have a term of two years.

He was the second vice-president of Nepali Congress.
Bimalendra Nidhi is a Nepali politician who serves as a member of the House of Representatives and a senior leader of Nepali Congress. He is the former Deputy Prime Minister of Nepal and Minister of Home Affairs of Nepal. Nidhi has also served as the Vice-president and General secretary of Nepali Congress, for tenures of four consecutive years each.
Ram Baran Yadav is a Nepali politician and physician who served as the first president of Nepal from 23 July 2008 to 29 October 2015, following the declaration of republic in 2008. Previously he served as Minister of Health from 1999 to 2001 and general secretary of the Nepali Congress.
Bidya Devi Bhandari is a former Nepali politician who served as the second president of Nepal from 2015 to 2023. She formerly served as the minister of defence and minister of environment and population.
Naya Shakti Party, Nepal was a democratic socialist political party in Nepal formed by former Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai on 12 June 2016. On 6 May 2019, the party merged with Federal Socialist Forum, Nepal to form Samajbadi Party, Nepal.
General elections were held in Nepal in two phases on 26 November and 7 December 2017 to elect the 275 members of the fifth House of Representatives, the lower house of the Federal Parliament of Nepal.

Durga Paudel is a Nepali politician and a member of the House of Representatives of the federal parliament of Nepal. She was elected under the first-past-the-post (FPTP) system, as a candidate from Rastriya Janamorcha and with the support of the left alliance, from Pyuthan 1. She defeated Dr. Govinda Raj Pokharel of Nepali Congress. She received 47,514 votes to Pokharel's 31,286. She was one of only six women to be elected to parliament under the FPTP system.
Hit Bahadur Tamang is a Nepali politician and a member of the House of Representatives of the federal parliament of Nepal. He was elected from Nuwakot-1 constituency representing CPN MC of the left alliance, defeating senior Nepali Congress leader, ex-finance minister Ram Saran Mahat. He was elected by a margin of 8,553 votes, receiving 36,473 votes to Mahat's 27,920. He had been a candidate from Nuwakot in both the constituent assembly elections of 2008 and 2013 but lost to Mahat both times.
Minakshi Jha is a Nepali politician and a member of the House of Representatives of the federal parliament of Nepal. She was elected under the proportional representation system from Nepali Congress. She has also served as member of both the constituent assemblies.
Pradip Paudel is a Nepali politician and a Central Committee Member of Nepali Congress Party. He was elected as the central committee member of the party with top 5 votes in the 13th General Convention of Nepali Congress. Paudel is from Tanahun, and began his political career with the Nepal Student Union, the student wing of the Nepali Congress. He was a member of the Nepali Congress Central Committee, accepting the appointment from Sushil Koirala on September 17, 2014.
The First Federal Parliament of Nepal, consisting of the House of Representatives and the National Assembly, was elected via the 2017 legislative, provincial and local elections.
General elections were held in Nepal on 20 November 2022 to elect the 275 members of the House of Representatives. There were two ballots in the election; one to elect 165 members from single-member constituencies via FPTP, and the other to elect the remaining 110 members from a single nation-wide constituency via party-list proportional representation.
The fourth presidential election of Nepal, to elect the country's third president since the abolition of the monarchy, was held on 9 March 2023.
