FK Athene Moss was a Norwegian women's football club from Moss. It is named after Athena in Greek mythology.

Athena was regarded as the patron and protectress of various cities across Greece, particularly the city of Athens, from which she most likely received her name. She is usually shown in art wearing a helmet and holding a spear. Her major symbols include owls, olive trees, snakes, and the Gorgoneion.
It was founded in 1996, replacing SK Sprint-Jeløy which was a former successful club from Moss. Athene Moss played in the Toppserien until 2001, when it was relegated. The club was later disbanded, but resurfaced on 1 January 2006, fielding teams on youth level.
Sportsklubben Sprint-Jeløy is a Norwegian football club from Jeløya in Moss. The club was founded in 1926 when both Jeløy IF and SK Sprint was formed. The two clubs merged into Sportsklubben Sprint-Jeløy on 11 October 1940.
The Toppserien is the top level of women's association football in Norway. It was founded in 1984.
The 2001 season of the Toppserien, the highest women's football (soccer) league in Norway, began on 21 April 2001 and ended on 27 October 2001.
Athene Moss and SK Rapid fielded a cooperative women-team in 2010, and on 11 February 2011 the two clubs merged to form Rapid Athene, and the old clubs ceased to exist. [1]

During its first period of existence Athene Moss fielded such players as Heidi Støre, Agnete Carlsen, Birthe Hegstad, Bente Nordby, Marianne Pettersen and later national team players such as Ingvild Stensland, Lene Storløkken, Lise Klaveness, Camilla Huse and Christine Colombo Nilsen.
Heidi Støre is a former Norwegian footballer and world champion as captain for the national team.
Agnete Synnøve Carlsen is a former Norwegian professional footballer who played as a midfielder. With the Norway women's national team, Carlsen won the 1995 FIFA Women's World Cup and an Olympic bronze medal in 1996. At club level Carlsen played for SK Sprint-Jeløy in Norway, then joined Japanese L. League team Nikko Securities Dream Ladies on a professional contract.
Birthe Hegstad is a Norwegian former footballer who played for Klepp IL and for the Norway women's national football team.
