Savaal (transl. Challenge) is a 1981 Indian Tamil-language masala film directed by R. Krishnamoorthy, starring Kamal Haasan, Jaishankar, Vijayakumar, Sripriya and Lakshmi. The film was released on 3 July 1981 and did well at the box office. It is a remake of the Hindi film Haath Ki Safai (1974).
Sattam En Kaiyil is a 1978 Indian Tamil-language action film written, produced and directed by T. N. Balu. The film stars Kamal Haasan and Sripriya, while Sathyaraj made his screen debut. It was released on 14 July 1978 and became a success. The film was remade in Hindi as Yeh To Kamaal Ho Gaya (1982), with Haasan returning.

Chembaruthi (transl. Hibiscus) is a 1992 Indian Tamil-language teen romantic drama film written and directed by R. K. Selvamani and produced by Kovaithambi. The film stars Prashanth and Roja, while Mansoor Ali Khan, Nassar, Radha Ravi, and Bhanumathi play supporting roles. It was partially re-shot in Telugu as Chamanti with Satyanarayana replacing M. N. Nambiar. The music was composed by Ilaiyaraaja, while editing was done by V. Udhayashankar and cinematography by Ravi Yadav. The film was released on 17 April 1992 and was a major box office success. It was remade in Bengali Bangladesh as Ontore Ontore, in Hindi as Aao Pyaar Karen (1994).
