Senthil (born 23 March 1951) is an Indian comedy actor who works in Tamil cinema. [3] [4] He is famous for his comedian roles along with fellow actor Goundamani. The pair dominated the Tamil industry as comedians in the 1980s and 90s. [5] [6] [7] [8] [9] [10] [11]

Personal life

Senthil was born on 23 March 1951 in a small village near Mudukulathur in Ramanathapuram, Tamil Nadu. He married Kalaiselvi on 14 May 1984. [12] They have two sons and two granddaughters.[ citation needed ]

Career

As actor

He ran away from his village at the age of 13 due to his father's scoldings. [13] He first worked in an oil mart, then in a private wine shop as a waiter and then ended up in drama where he started developing his skills. [14]

He made his debut with Oru Koyil Iru Dheepangal (1979) though officially his first film was Ithikkara Pakki, which was released in 1980. [15] [16] He slowly entered the Tamil film industry in small characters and finally landed a good role in the film Malaiyoor Mambattiyan . He has acted in many popular films with several of the leading actors and comedians in the south Indian cine industry. He usually appears in films with Goundamani in a slapstick double act. They formed a comic pair in many Tamil films. [17] [5]

In 2019, Senthil has started acting in Tamil tele-serials making his debut with Sun TV's Rasathi. [18]

Politics

Initially campaigning for AIADMK, Senthil is currently campaigning for AMMK party. [19] [20] Former minister Gokula Indira was replaced in the post of organising secretary by Senthil, appointed by T. T. V. Dhinakaran in AIADMK in 2017. [21] Later, he joined TTV Dinakaran's Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam political party. In September 2019, Senthil, Kathirkamu, Raja Manickam, Devadas and Henry Thomas were announced as the five organisation secretaries of AMMK party. [22] He joined Bharatiya Janata Party, just before the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.[ citation needed ]

Thiruthurapoondi Thiruvenkatam Vivekananda Dhinakaran is an Indian politician and founding General Secretary of Amma Makkal Munneetra Kazagam. In the past he was the Treasurer of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam Party and served as the Member of Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha. He was expelled from the AIADMK in August 2017. He also served as former Member of the 15th Tamil Nadu Assembly from Dr. Radhakrishnan Nagar (2017-2021). He is the nephew of V. K. Sasikala. He won the highly anticipated RK Nagar by-election in December 2017. On 15 March 2018 Dhinakaran launched his political party named Amma Makkal Munnettra Kazagam.

Nattamai is a 1994 Indian Tamil-language drama film written and directed by K. S. Ravikumar. It starred Sarathkumar, Meena and Khushbu. Vivekanandan Krishnaveni Sasikala, also known by her married name Sasikala Natarajan, and often referred to by her initials VKS, is an Indian politician. She was a close associate of J. Jayalalithaa, the late chief minister of Tamil Nadu, who headed the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) from 1989 until her death in 2016. After Jayalalithaa's death, the party's general council elected her as a temporary secretary general of AIADMK. Before entering the Central Prison in Bangalore, Sasikala appointed Edappadi K. <i>Vaaimai</i> 2016 film by A. Senthil Kumar

Vaaimai is a 2016 Indian Tamil-language courtroom drama film written and directed by A. Senthil Kumar. Inspired by the script of Reginald Rose's Twelve Angry Men (1954), the film stars Shanthnu Bhagyaraj and Muktha Bhanu amongst an ensemble cast. Goundamani, Thyagarajan, Ramki, Urvashi, Manoj K. Bharathi, Prithvi Pandiarajan and Poornima Bhagyaraj are also part of the cast. Though production had begun in 2013, the film released following a production delay on 8 September 2016, garnering negative reviews.

The Sixteenth Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Election was held on 6 April 2021, to elect representatives from the 234 constituencies in the Indian State of Tamil Nadu. The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) won the election, ending the decade-long reign of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK). The DMK's leader M. K. Stalin became the eighth Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, and the 12th Chief Minister since the 1956 reorganization. He replaced Edappadi K. Palaniswami of the AIADMK.

Gundu Kalyanam is an Indian actor and director in Tamil film industry and active and hardcore member at AIADMK party. He entered cine field in the year 1967 and his first movie was Mazhalai Pattalam in 1979. He also had his hands on direction with the movie Nanga Pudusa and Nalla Nalla Pillaigalai Nambi. He also penned a patriotic song for the movie Nalla Nalla Pillaigalai Nambi and made a special screening of the song was held for former president Abdul Kalam. He is best known for his roles in Rajinikanth featuring movies. He has acted more than 750 movies in various languages.
