Atle Armas Gabriel Asanti (until 1937 Aschan; 31 May 1905 [1] - 3 January 1992 [2] [1] [3] ) was a Finnish diplomat and lawyer. [1]

Early life

Asanti became an undergraduate student in 1925. In 1931, he completed a bachelor's degree in law. [1] Asanti earned a Master in Law in 1934. [1] He went to work at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs that year. [1]

Career

Assanti worked as an assistant to the delegations in Stockholm, Berlin, and Moscow in the 1930s. [1]

Post-war, Asanti served as secretary of the Foreign Ministry [1] and later as a Division Chief from 1957-1959 [2] as well as the head of the Legal Department. [1]

Asanti was appointed Finland's ambassador to the United Arab Republic from 1959 to 1962 [1] and served as Ambassador to Beirut and Khartoum 1959–1962. [1] He was Envoy to Addis Abeba between 1959–1962. [1] [4]

He was ambassador in Prague 1962–1972 [5] and Tirana 1962–1971. [1] Asanti retired in 1972. [1]

Asanti was a member of the Board of Directors of Finnish Foreign Trade Association and International Law Association's Finnish Department. [1]

In 1947 he received the title of the Counselor's Counsel; then in 1959 the title of the Sovereign Special Ambassador. [1]

Alexander Amatus Thesleff was a Finnish diplomat and a lawyer. He was Head of the Administrative Department of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs 1958-1959 and Head of the Legal Department 1964-1966. He was an ambassador in Brussels and Luxembourg from 1959 to 1963, and in Dublin from 1962 to 1963. He was in active from 1963 to 1964. In 1973, he was appointed to Chile, but his main place of work was in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he was the Envoy in 1966-1974.

Åke Rudolf Wihtol was Secretary of State for the Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs since 1985 until his retirement in 1991. He made a great career in foreign affairs in both Finland and abroad. From his education, Wihtol was a lawyer and a bachelor.

Juha (Jussi) Olavi Montonen was a Finnish diplomat. He was a Bachelor of Philosophy degree. He was Ambassador of Finland to Madrid in 1969–1972, in Warsaw from 1972 to 1976, Head of the Administrative Department of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs from 1976 to 1978, Ambassador México from 1978 to 1984 and Bucharest in 1984–1986. He was also the general consul in Los Angeles

Kaarlo Veikko Mäkelä was a Finnish diplomat and ambassador. He graduated as Master in Philosophy in 1945. He was a commercial representative in the Federal Republic of Germany from 1964 to 1968, before the embassy was established. Thereafter, he was Ambassador in Bucharest from 1968 to 1972, part of the administrative department of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs 1973–1974 and Ambassador in Bern from 1974 to 1976.

Pentti Martin Suomela was a Finnish diplomat, a master of philosophy. He served as a negotiating officer at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs 1963–1965, Head of the Political Department 1965, Ambassador to Oslo from 1966 to 1972, Bucharest from 1972 to 1976 and Beijing from 1976 to 1984.
