Ato Essilfi Bracato Essandoh (born July 29, 1972) [2] is an American television and film actor of Ghanaian origin.

Early life

Ato was born in 1972 to Ghanaian parents and graduated from New Rochelle High School in 1990. He received a B.S. in chemical engineering from Cornell University. He first joined theater when he was dared to do so by a girlfriend. [3] He studied acting under James Price at The Acting Studio - New York in New York City. [4] [5] He is also a playwright, and authored Black Thang which is published in the anthology Plays and Playwrights 2003. Essandoh is the co-founder of The Defiant Ones writing and performance group.[ citation needed ]

Career

He launched a podcast, Unrelated, together with childhood friend Chris Cecot. [6]

<i>Away</i> (TV series) 2020 American science fiction drama television series

Away is an American science fiction drama television series starring Hilary Swank. Created by Andrew Hinderaker, the show premiered on Netflix on September 4, 2020. In October 2020, the series was canceled after one season. The show portrays the sacrifices an international group of astronauts must make, as they prepare to be away from their families for three years on the first crewed spaceflight to Mars.

The Lehman Trilogy is a three-act play by Italian novelist and playwright Stefano Massini. It follows the lives of three immigrant brothers from when they arrived in America and founded an investment firm through the collapse of Lehman Brothers in 2008. It has been translated into 24 languages, staged by such directors as Luca Ronconi and Sam Mendes, and was later published as a novel in English. An English translation of the play by Mirella Cheeseman was produced at the National Theatre in 2018. The production, featuring three actors and one pianist, was directed by Sam Mendes and included the cast of Simon Russell Beale, Adam Godley and Ben Miles. It earned five Laurence Olivier Award nominations.

Larry Owens is an American comedian, actor, writer, and singer. He received a Lucille Lortel Award and a Drama Desk Award for his leading performance in the off-Broadway musical A Strange Loop. He has acted on television shows including Search Party, High Maintenance, Modern Love and Abbott Elementary.
