Atoroba Peni Rikito is the great-grandson of King Gbudwe [1] who ascended to the Crown on 9 February 2022 as the King of Azende. [2]
Atoroba Peni Rikito became King of the Azande Kingdom. The kingdom had not had a king for 117 years,since the death of Gbudwe in 1905. [3] [4] [5]

The Azande are an ethnic group in Central Africa speaking the Zande languages. They live in the south-eastern part of the Central African Republic,the north-eastern part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo,and the south-central and south-western parts of South Sudan. The Congolese Azande live in Orientale Province along the Uele River;Isiro,Dungu,Kisangani and Duruma. The Central African Azande live in the districts of Rafaï,Bangasu and Obo. The Azande of South Sudan live in Central,Western Equatoria and Western Bahr al-Ghazal States,Yei,Maridi,Yambio,Tombura,Deim Zubeir,Wau Town and Momoi.
Equatoria is the southernmost region of South Sudan,along the upper reaches of the White Nile and the border between South Sudan and Uganda. Juba,the national capital and the largest city in South Sudan,is located in Equatoria. Originally a province of Anglo-Egyptian Sudan,it also contained most of northern parts of present-day Uganda,including Lake Albert and West Nile. The state was divided into counties,each headed by a County Commissioner. Western Equatoria seceded from Sudan as part of the Republic of South Sudan on 9 July 1956. On October 2,2011,the state was divided into Amadi,Maridi,and Gbudwe states,and Tambura State was split from Gbudwe state on January 14,2015. He was the president of the High Executive Council of the Southern Sudan Autonomous Region,serving from 23 June 1982 to 5 June 1983,until the Sudanese central government revoked the autonomy of that region. Autonomy was restored in 2005,and six years later,South Sudan became an independent nation.
Ajonye Perpetua Paya is a South Sudanese constitutional lawyer,judge and human rights activist. Until 2013 she was a first class justice in the South Sudan judiciary. She assisted in drafting the 2005 interim constitution of Sudan. She served in the cabinet of Central Equatoria State in 2011,then in the cabinet of President Salva Kiir Mayardit,who dismissed her in May 2013. Since then she has held leadership positions in the South Sudan Law Society and has often spoken on civil rights issues including women's rights and gender-based violence. In 2023 she headed the Secretariat of the Judicial Reform Committee (JRC) of South Sudan.
Gbudwe State was a state of South Sudan that existed between 2 October 2015 and 22 February 2020. It was created from Western Equatoria state. Tambura State was split from Gbudwe State on January 14,2017. Gbudwe State was located in the Equatoria region. Gbudwe bordered the states of Lol,Maridi,Tambura,and Western Lakes,and also the province of Haut-Uéléin the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Haut-Mbomou in the Central African Republic. The state had a population of 364,272 in 2008.
Maridi State was a state in South Sudan that existed between 2 October 2015 and 22 February 2020. It was formed on 2 October 2015 from Western Equatoria state. It was located in the Equatoria region. Maridi State bordered the states of Amadi State,Gbudwe State,Western Lakes State,and Yei River State.
The Arrow Boys are a militia operating in the Western Equatoria region of South Sudan. The militia sprung up as a self-defense unit who get their name from their use of bows and arrows supposedly treated with poison,and other traditional weapons.

Michael Lado Thomas Allah-Jabu is a South Sudanese politician. He is the former mayor of Juba City Council in Central Equatoria State as of 2023. Allah-Jabu was appointed by Central Equatoria State Governor,Emmanuel Adil Anthony in November 19,2021,replacing Kalisto Lado who was removed in a gubernatorial decree.
