Aude Cassagne (born 3 October 1990) is a French cyclist. She is the 2022 World Champion in Flatland BMX.

Early life

From Toulouse, she received her first BMX aged 12 after visiting a FISE event with her family. Her brother Maxine was also a keen BMX rider. She combined practising BMX with her studies, through which she completed medical school, qualified as a doctor, and moved to Bordeaux. [1]

Career

In November 2022 Cassagne won the 2022 UCI Urban Cycling World Championships held in Abu Dhabi in the Flatland BMX event. [2] [3] Previous to this, she had become the French champion in October 2022 at the national championships held in Montpellier. [4]

The 2023 UCI BMX Freestyle World Championships were held in Glasgow, Scotland between 5 and 10 August 2023. Ordinarily held as part of the UCI Urban Cycling World Championships, in this year the world championships in the disciplines of Park and Flatland both form part of the larger 2023 UCI World Cycling Championships. A 2023 UCI Trials World Championships, generally held with the BMX championships as the UCI Urban Cycling World Championships were held separately.

The UCI Cycling World Championships is the multi-discipline world championship event for cycle sports, organised by its governing body the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). It brings together the individual cycling disciplines, which hold separate UCI World Championships events, to be held as part of one event every 4 years; these disciplines will also continue to hold separate annual world championship events outside of the planned quadrennial editions. The inaugural edition was held in 2023, and further editions are to be held in the year preceding the Olympic Games.
