Muhammad Aun Saqlain Chaudhry is a Pakistani politician who was an advisor to the Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif on tourism and sports from April 2022 to August 2023.
He married former actress Noor Bukhari in 2012 but ended their relationship after a few months. They eventually remarried in 2020. [1] However his marriage certificate is questionable as Noor Bukhari was still in Nikkah of her former spouse when they both got married.
He previously served as Chief Coordinator to the Chief Minister of Punjab,Usman Buzdar,from December 2020 to August 2021. [2]
He is the brother of dissident PTI MPA Amin Chaudhry,who voted for Hamza Shehbaz in the 2022 Chief Minister of Punjab Elections. [3] In 2018,soon after the general elections,Aun was appointed as Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab,in which position he served until 2020. [4]
He was asked to resign from the Punjab Cabinet after the sugar scandal cases against Jahangir Tareen;however,the Punjab government denied receiving his resignation. [5] [6] [7]
Later he was dismissed from his office. Imran Khan expelled him from PTI in July 2021 due to selling guest passes of PM Imran Khan’s Oath Taking ceremony.
He was a candidate for NA-128 Lahore-XII in the 2024 Pakistani general election,running as a member of Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party. Independent journalists such as Secunder Kermani expected the seat to be overwhelmingly won by the PTI-affiliated candidate Salman Akram Raja,on the basis of voter interviews. [8] However,while Form 45 from the Election Commission of Pakistan showed Raja with a decisive lead,the more final Form 47 reported Chaudhry as having won 172,576 votes to Raja's 159,024 votes. Raja,PTI supporters,and independent journalists claimed the ECP Form 47 results showed clear evidence of rigging by the Army,and the Lahore High Court issued a stay on a final declaration of the results by ECP until a hearing could be fixed to investigate the matter. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf is a political party in Pakistan established in 1996 by Pakistani cricketer and politician Imran Khan,who served as the country's prime minister from 2018 to 2022. Muhammad Basharat Raja is a Pakistani politician who was the Provincial Minister of Punjab for Law and Parliamentary Affairs and Provincial Minister of Punjab for Baitul Maal and Social Welfare. He had been a member of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab from August 2018 till January 2023. He is the son of former Member of the National Assembly of Pakistan Raja Laal of Rawalpindi.
Jahangir Khan Tareen is a Pakistani businessman and former politician who is the majority shareholder and CEO of JDW Group,a conglomerate specializing in the manufacturing and sale of sugar and associated products,ethanol(bio-fuels) production,power generation,transmission and sales,sugar cane farms,and aircraft operations and maintenance services. Jahangir Tareen is also the chairman and owner of JK Group,a conglomerate specializing in manufacturing and sale of sugar and associated products,milk production,processing and sales,power generation,transmission and sales,production and sales of fruits and agricultural produce,granite mining and sales,PepsiCo Multan franchise and PSL Multan Sultans' franchise. Khan has been a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan thrice between 2002 and 2017. Born in Comilla,Tareen was educated at the Forman Christian College in Lahore,and later attended the University of North Carolina. Prior to entering politics,he had been a lecturer and banker.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif is a Pakistani politician,currently serving as the Chief Minister of Punjab,in office since 26 February 2024. She is the daughter of former Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif and her initial involvement in public life was through her family’s philanthropic organisations. However,her political career began in earnest in 2012 when she took charge of the election campaign for the 2013 general elections. Following the elections,she was appointed as the Chairperson of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme in 2013. Despite her active role,she resigned from the position in 2014 after her appointment was legally challenged in the Lahore High Court.
General elections were held in Pakistan on 25 July 2018 to elect the members of the 15th National Assembly and the four Provincial Assemblies. The three major parties were Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI),led by Imran Khan,the Pakistan Muslim League,led by Shehbaz Sharif,and the Pakistan People's Party,led by Bilawal Bhutto. The PTI won the most seats in the National Assembly but fell short of a majority;the party subsequently formed a coalition government with several smaller parties. At the provincial level,the PTI remained the largest party in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP);the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) retained its dominance in Sindh;and the newly formed Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) emerged as the largest party in Balochistan. In Punjab,the result was a hung parliament,with the Pakistan Muslim League (N) winning the most seats. However,after several independent MPAs joined the PTI,the latter became the largest party and was able to form a government.
Ch Muhammad Saqlain is a Pakistani politician associated with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. He is currently serving as PTI NA 66 candidate in Jhelum. He comes from a Jatt Tribe.
Malik Nauman Ahmad Langrial is a Pakistani politician who was a member of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab from August 2018 till May 2022.
Provincial elections were held in the Pakistani province of Punjab to elect the 16th Provincial Assembly of the Punjab on 11 May 2013,alongside nationwide general elections and three other provincial elections in Sindh,Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The remaining two territories of Pakistan,AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan,were ineligible to vote due to their disputed status.
Abdul Aleem Khan is a Pakistani politician and businessman from Lahore. Abdul Aleem Khan currently serves as a member of the National Assembly after being elected from Constituency NA 117,Shahdara Lahore in the general elections held on February 8th 2024. Abdul Aleem Khan owns Samaa TV and Vision Group. He was also the Senior Minister of Punjab and Minister of Food from 2020 to 2021. He also served as a member of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab from August 2018 to 2021. He announced his separation from politics on Twitter in a tweet. Later in a statement to the media,he said that he had no intentions of joining politics again and that he would focus on the welfare work done through the Abdul Aleem Khan Foundation but soon after the economic crisis and instability in Pakistan,he decided to join politics again and launched the political party along with renowned politician Jahangir Khan Tareen named the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party in June 2023. He is a founding member and president of the party.
NA-128 Lahore-XII is a newly-created constituency for the National Assembly of Pakistan. It mainly comprises the Model Town Tehsil along with areas of Lahore Cantonment Tehsil,Walton Cantonment and Lahore City Tehsil.
Fawad Ahmed Hussain Chaudhry is a Pakistani politician who served as Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting,in office since 14 April 2021 to 10 April 2022. On 24 May 2023 announced he is taking "break" from politics.
General elections,originally scheduled to be held in 2023,were held in Pakistan on 8 February 2024 to elect the members of the 16th National Assembly. The Election Commission of Pakistan announced the detailed schedule on 15 December 2023.
Chouhdary Omer Sarfraz Cheema is a Pakistani politician belonging to Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (1996-present). He has been a founding member of PTI. He served as the 42nd Governor of Punjab from 3 April 2022 to 10 May 2022 and was appointed by Imran Khan. He was removed as Governor and replaced by Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman on 30 May 2022,with approval from the President of Pakistan. He was later appointed as Advisor to the Chief Minister of Punjab on Information by Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi. He was further appointed as Advisor to the Chief Minister on Home and Prisons. He ceased to hold both offices on 14 January 2023.
The constitutional crisis in Pakistan's Punjab province began on 28 March 2022,when Usman Buzdar tendered his resignation as Chief Minister at the request of Prime Minister Imran Khan and nominated former Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi to replace him. On 1 April 2022,his resignation was accepted by then Governor of Punjab,Chaudary Mohammed Sarwar.
By-elections were held in Punjab,Pakistan on 17 July 2022 to elect 20 members of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf won a landslide victory on 15 of those 20 seats,leading to the collapse of Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz's PML(N)-led coalition government,as it became 7 seats short of a majority.
Provincial elections were held in the Pakistani province of Punjab on 8 February 2024 to elect a new provincial legislature. On 5 August 2023,the results of the 2023 digital census were approved by the Council of Common Interests headed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Therefore,elections have been delayed for several months,as new delimitations will be published on 14 December 2023,as announced by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). On 2 November 2023,the ECP announced,in agreement with the President of Pakistan,Arif Alvi,that the elections will be held on 8 February 2024. This election will be held concurrently with nationwide general elections and other provincial elections.
The 2022–23 Pakistan political unrest was a series of political crises after the ousting of former prime minister Imran Khan through a no-confidence motion in April 2022. The crises began in 2022 when the opposition joined hands and submitted a no-confidence motion against Imran Khan's government in the National Assembly. Prime Minister Imran Khan urged the Pakistani establishment not to stay neutral and play its role to save his government and not let historical rival politicians with alleged corruption charges take over,but the establishment refused.
