Aura Aero is a manufacturer of general aviation aircraft, located at the Francazal Airport in Toulouse, France.
It is fully independent, privately owned, and backed by venture capital firms since its inception in 2018.
It has design organisation and production organization approvals from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency.
The company develops two product lines and aircraft families:
Aura Aero was founded in 2018 by three aeronautical engineers in Toulouse, France with the aim of designing electric aircraft.
In 2020, it acquired Air Menuiserie in Normandy which specialises in the repair, restoration and construction of wooden and composite aircraft structures.
In 2024, the company has announced that it will set up a production centre in Daytona Beach, Florida. [1]
Integral is a two-seater side-by-side training aircraft, made of wood and carbon, intended for pilots training, voltige and military training, which is available in several versions:
Integral R, powered by a 210 hp Lycoming AEIO-390 engine and with a load factor of +8.5 / -8.5 g in category A1. European Certification Specification CS-23 from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency for the Integral R was obtained on 18 December 2024. [2]
Integral S made its maiden flight on 28 July 2023. Certification is scheduled for 2025.
Integral E made its maiden flight on 3 December 2024. [3] Certification is scheduled for 2026 - which would make it the second electric aircraft to be certified, after Velis Electro‘s Pipistrel in 2020.

With a payload of 1.9 tons and a range of 900 nautical miles, its first flight is announced in 2026 by the company. Propulsion will be provided by 8 electrical motors and their set of batteries connected to turbogenerators for in-flight charging.

The company was founded in 1981 as a joint venture between Aérospatiale of France and Aeritalia of Italy. Its main products are the ATR 42 and ATR 72 aircraft. ATR has sold more than 1,700 aircraft and has over 200 operators in more than 100 countries.
The ATR 42 is a regional airliner produced by Franco-Italian manufacturer ATR, with final assembly in Toulouse, France. On 4 November 1981, the aircraft was launched with ATR, as a joint venture between French Aérospatiale and Aeritalia . The ATR 42-300 performed its maiden flight on 16 August 1984 and type certification was granted during September 1985. Launch customer Air Littoral operated its first revenue-earning flight in December of that year.
The Cessna 208 Caravan is a utility aircraft produced by Cessna. The project was commenced on November 20, 1981, and the prototype first flew on December 9, 1982. The production model was certified by the FAA in October 1984 and its Cargomaster freighter variant was developed for FedEx. The Airbus BelugaXL (A330-743L) is a large transport aircraft based on the Airbus A330-200F built by Airbus to replace the original Airbus BelugaST to transport very large aircraft components, such as wings. The aircraft made its first flight on 19 July 2018, and received its type certification on 13 November 2019. The BelugaXL entered service with Airbus Transport on 9 January 2020.

The AURA AERO Integral R is a French two-seat aerobatic low-wing training monoplane first flown in June 2020. The aircraft is the first of a family of Integral aircraft to fly and achieved EASA Certification in the CS-23 Normal Aircraft category in December 2024.
