The Austin Aquarium is a for profit aquarium located in Austin, Texas, United States, that opened to the public December 12, 2013 and includes birds, fish and other amphibians. [2] The aquarium is owned and operated by Crysty Covino the wife of former owner Ammon Covino. [3]
The Austin Aquarium was founded by brothers Ammon and Vince Covino. [4] There was controversy leading up to its opening based on their history in other cities, and the Covinos were issued a citation from the city in July 2013 for keeping animals at the site without a permit, and animal-rights group PETA called for the aquarium to receive a full inspection. The facility is 105,000 sq ft (9,800 m2), and displays numerous species of sharks, rays, fish, reptiles, and marine invertebrates. It also features a shark tunnel. In addition to Winter, most of the cast from the first film also reprise their roles including Harry Connick Jr., Ashley Judd, Nathan Gamble, Cozi Zuehlsdorff, Kris Kristofferson, Morgan Freeman, Austin Stowell, Tom Nowicki, Austin Highsmith, Betsy Landin and Juliana Harkavy while Hope made her film debut. It was released on September 12, 2014, and tells the story of another dolphin at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium named "Hope". After Winter's elderly companion and surrogate mother, Panama, dies, Winter's future is in jeopardy, unless Sawyer, Clay, Hazel, and the rest of the team can find a new companion for her. The film received mixed reviews from critics and grossed $57.8 million.

It was founded by Vince Covino and features hands-on animal interactions at shopping malls throughout the United States. The company has locations in Utah, Texas, Las Vegas, New Jersey, California, Minnesota, Colorado, and Virginia. SeaQuest has attracted considerable controversy and legal issues due to concerns over its animal care standards.
