Austin William Russell Lewis (born 5 December 1932) was an Australian politician.
Born in Melbourne,he was educated at the University of Melbourne before becoming a solicitor,company director and farmer. On 7 December 1976,he was appointed to the Australian Senate as a Liberal Senator for Victoria,filling the casual vacancy caused by the death of Liberal Senator Ivor Greenwood. He held the seat until his retirement in 1993. [1] [2]

George Conrad Hannan was an Australian politician who served as a Senator for Victoria from 1956 to 1965 and 1970 to 1974. Born in Wartling,Sussex,he was educated at Charterhouse School before migrating to Australia in 1881,where he became a grazier and sugar mill-owner in New South Wales and then Queensland. He was a leader among Queensland cane growers,sitting on Mackay Council and serving as mayor in 1904. In 1906 he was elected to the Australian Senate as an Anti-Socialist Senator for Queensland. He joined the Commonwealth Liberal Party when it formed in 1909. Chataway was defeated in 1913,after which he became a journalist in Melbourne.

This is a list of members of the Australian Senate from 1975 to 1978. The 13 December 1975 election was a double dissolution of both houses,with all 127 seats in the House of Representatives,and all 64 seats in the Senate up for election. Malcolm Fraser had been commissioned as prime minister following the dismissal of Gough Whitlam's Labor government by Governor-General Sir John Kerr,on 11 November 1975. The same day,Fraser advised the calling of the election,in accordance with Kerr's stipulated conditions. Thus the Liberal Party of Australia,led by Fraser,with Coalition partner the National Country Party,led by Doug Anthony,went to the election as a caretaker government. The election resulted in the Coalition securing government with a 30-seat swing away from Labor in the House of Representatives.

He contested the 1922 election as a candidate for the Liberal Party,which was a group of disaffected Nationalists opposed to the leadership of Prime Minister Billy Hughes;he was defeated. Rowell died in 1940.
