The Australian State Netball League was Australia's premier netball league before the era of the Commonwealth Bank Trophy. The league is currently running as the State Champs, but now with more regions. The big league ran from 1993 until 1996. It included all six states and the Northern Territory.

The Galvatrons are a four-piece rock band who formed on 28 August 2007, in Geelong, Australia. Lead singer Johnny Galvatron stated on radio station 101.3 Sea FM on the Central Coast that the band got their name from the 1986 animated film Transformers. The Galvatrons cite their influences as Devo, Stan Bush, Australian Crawl, Van Halen, Lion, Cheap Trick, Kim Wilde, Queen, Stevie Nicks, Pat Benatar, Kenny Loggins, Tears for Fears and Gary Numan. The band have completed their debut album, as announced via their MySpace, which was released 3 July 2009.

The structure of the Australian Army changed considerably during World War II. At the outbreak of war the Army comprised a small regular component and a large, but ill-trained and equipped, militia force. The 2019–20 Women's National Cricket League season was the 24th season of the Women's National Cricket League (WNCL), the women's domestic limited overs cricket competition in Australia. Under an expanded schedule, each of the seven teams played eight round robin games, up from the six played by all teams in each of the previous nine seasons. The tournament started on 22 September 2019 and finished on 16 February 2020. Defending champions New South Wales Breakers topped the ladder and met Western Australia in the final, where the latter won by 42 runs to secure their first WNCL title.
The Esso Superleague, later known as the Mobil Superleague, was the top level national Australian netball league between 1985 and 1996. The league was Australia's first national netball league. It was organized by the All Australia Netball Association and featured the state league champions from New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Queensland and Western Australia plus a team from the Australian Institute of Sport. Between 1990 and 1996, the winners of the league were also awarded the Prime Minister's Cup and this is sometimes used as an alternative name for the competition. Its main sponsors were Esso and Mobil. In 1997 it was replaced by the Commonwealth Bank Trophy.
