Avni Qahili (Skopje, 12 September 1967) is a Macedonian-Albanian TV presenter, songwriter and musician.

Life

Qahili finished studies in Prishtina in 1991 and studies in Skopje in 1993. Got hired in Macedonian National Television in 1992, where he still works up to this date. Have been cooperating with Kosovo's magazine "Zëri", [1] magazine in Macedonia "Bis", magazine in Albania "Paloma" and with DW (Deutsche Welle) in the "Periskop" project. He is the author of approximately 5000 song lyrics, and has been working with almost all new and famous Albanian singers. [2]

In many various festivals his songs have gotten to the first place and also have been rewarded with the best lyric writer (author) on the same festivals. Worth highlighting is the prize for Best Lyrics in 2004 in the "Ohridski Trubaduri" International festival of Ohrid.

From 2022 until 2023, he completed two-year master's studies in media and communication in UBT Prishtina, while now he is pursuing doctoral studies in media and communication.

Has realized thousands of TV programs and shows which have been the most viewed in republican level and region, with which many times have been awarded as the "Journalist of the year" from Macedonian National Television. [3]

He is the head of the board of "Netët e klipit shqiptar", "Miss Shqipëria" and "Miss Globe International". Also a member of the Macedonian Team for choosing the song for Eurovision song contest. In addition, the chief of the Albanian delegation on Turk Vision festival, and many other well known festivals.

One of the most wanted presenters in Macedonia, Kosovo, Albania and diaspora where he presents various musical spectacles and also various literature and cultural promotions.

He lives and works in Skopje – his birthplace, even though during the year he travels the world more than he is home.

Classical music in Kosovo refers to the art music cultivated in Kosovo. The roots of classical music in Kosovo are found in the 1940s and include the time period from the times when Kosovo was part of Yugoslavia to this day. It can be said that there is a tradition of classical music in Kosovo, however, compared to other Balkan countries and especially European countries this tradition is younger. Classical music in Kosovo reaches back about 70 years. Even though in a short period of time, this music has evolved, passing through generations of composers and artists. In his book Albanian: Zhvillimi i stileve në veprat e kompozitorëve shqiptarë të Kosovës, Engjëll Berisha comments:

"The diversity of styles in Albanian music [of Kosovo], its national patterns with sound idea-aesthetic foundations are a characteristic of the European musical reality, so many many works are of interest abroad, too, because during this relatively short period Albanian classical music in Kosovo has compensated for the delay in its development."

Jugovizija was the Yugoslav national final to select their entry for the Eurovision Song Contest, organized by the Yugoslav broadcaster Yugoslav Radio Television (JRT) and its subnational public broadcasting centers based in the capitals of each of the constituent republics of the Yugoslav federation: SR Bosnia and Herzegovina, SR Croatia, SR Macedonia, SR Montenegro, SR Serbia and SR Slovenia and also the broadcasting services of the autonomous provinces within SR Serbia: SAP Kosovo and SAP Vojvodina. The first subnational public broadcasters to compete in 1961 were RTV Belgrade, RTV Ljubljana and RTV Zagreb, while the others joined in the following years.

Dardan Selimaj is a journalist, producer and music theorist. He started his career as a journalist by writing for magazines and hosting a live show on local radio station in Prishtina. Since 2005 he has hosted a daily TV show at Kohavision (KTV), one of the three national broadcasters in Kosovo. He has also produced over 300 TV shows.
